had my job interview today :dread:

I think it went well, a couple of difficult questions that I took the long way round to answer, but I got there in the end.

Also the presentation was meant to last 20mins Max but I did it in 10
-worst part is when I was practising it I used up all the time hahaha

Said to one of the interviewers (who I sit beside at work); "I won't ask how it wen't because it wouldn't be appropriate."

To which his response was:" I would't tell you anyway, but off the record... it went very well."

now we wait 8-)

I have an internal interview here tomorrow, its for a sort of half step up half step to the side role that Im pretty interested in doing. Honestly, if I dont get it I can see myself leaving, things have been pretty stagnant here lately, I like the work but the process around it is a nightmare so if that doesnt change Ill be out the door as soon as I find something decent close to home.

Its gonna be so weird to be interview by 4 managers who are on my extended team, way harder to feed them bullshit like I usually would in an interview.

Another job has come up at my old place that I want to apply for.

Even less chance of getting this one than the other, which obviously I didn't get.

I must seem like a desperate ex .

Second interview today for a post I'd really quite like. Aced the assessments on Monday, so here's hoping. I hate competency based interviews, they're quite off guard, there's no telling what they actually expect you to answer with and they always seem to cover stuff I've already explained in The application. I don't want to be interviewed as a 'good worker'. I want to be interviewed as a 'good worker for the specific role'.

Didn't feel as confident as some I've done. Though I did find out id been rejected for another post on the way there. Absolutely gutted because the place seemed really nice and the wages were cracking. Even worse is there was 40 posts to fill. I'm trained and experienced out my nut but somehow couldn't crack top 40 despite feeling mighty confident about that interview. It's gutting. I'll ask for feedback because I really don't know why I'm not getting anywhere with my job hunt being overqualified for most posts.

Overqualification might be the issue - some places are turned off mightily by people who they think will only be in the role till something better comes along.

The GF thinks that Glasgow employers are more inclined to hire Glaswegians than filthy outsiders - can't really verify that obviously but I can certainly see why it could be the case. Maybe yer accent is the problem. :dread:

A lot of work moves at the moment. Getting moved myself on the 3rd.

The team I'm going to has that crazy woman who was trying to get into pants months ago, boss is a pretty strange dude who I once saw cycling the wrong way up the road, oblivious to oncoming traffic, and it also has a guy that obviously has angry wee man syndrome.

This will be hilarious

One of the assessments was listen to the name of a Scottish village that sounds completely different from how it's spelled and data input the address. Maybe that's how they sift out the outsiders? (Still aced it though)

Had an impromptu phone interview yesterday (see pissjeangate in the heat wave thread :dread: ) and got a call from them today saying they want to see me next week for a face to face. The guy on the phone was gushing about my portfolio and they sound well impressed so it sounds like it miiiight go somewhere. He was worried the salary is too low (its not) for my skills so to the points above about overqualification, its something i think people probably decide without letting you know.

Feeling good about this one, fingers crossed and that.

It sounds like he works for his parents and they just caught him underage drinking. :dread:

Don't worry too much about it SD, I am sure they understand everyone makes mistakes and just one really shouldn't have much of an impact on how they see you. If they don't see it that way, then they must be disappointed in virtually everybody on Earth.
