Sounds like you and your potential employers are poles apart.

Just Krakow a really good joke on your first day and I'm sure you'll fit in.

Tbh potentially shortlisting you because of your creed is kind of dodgy, I'm surprised they didn't ask if you spoke Polish on the application. What a weird situation to find yourself in.

You answered all of the questions which is good but they will probably judge you on your appearance, did you put polish on your shoes?

I'm having a super happy high because I felt like I nailed all of the questions.

But... everyone in the office was Polish. And they were all speaking Polish. And they assumed I could speak Polish too because I have a Polish surname. So there was an awkward moment where I had to ask them to speak English.

If they actually offer me the job I'm going to find it really hard to accept because of the above, despite my currently dire circumstances. I just can't imagine ever feeling comfortable in that situation.
Take it. After Brexit they will all be sent back to Poland, leaving you to run the company.

Yes?

You can go with them and it'll be better than post Brexit Britain.

So update from me, still pissed off. Not been officially in trouble since, but got told off by the ticket person today because after being told countless times in the past to tell people that I have to go on lunch, I told someone today that I was going on lunch and would they like me to reassign the ticket as I didn't want to keep them waiting.

Apparantly that is wrong. I really wish I could find somewhere that pays better that isn't in London, this job is slowly killing me on the inside. Hilarious thing is two people were off yesterday (ticket distributor and one of the bosses) and it was amazing. It was like the company that I used to enjoy working for when I first started.

Now I'm going to be sent back into London again which while I'm happy I can get out of the office it means I'm likely not going to get promoted to second line any time soon so I'm still going to look around for options.

Would you ever consider moving completely out of London? You'd be able to live in a much nicer area, you'd get paid better and your money would go further.

Given my Mum I'm not sure I could ever do that to her. I'm pretty much the only person she sees and I go into her at the weekends.

You could still do that on a train route. I know it's coming across as FKIN LOL LONDULL AMIRITE but there's so many opportunities elsewhere in far nicer places to live, and with nicer people to work with.

I could, but I would waste significantly more time travelling at the weekends when all I want to do is chill at home.

My mum isn't getting any better either so it's a conscientious thing for me, we're in the south which is really expensive but not as bad as London.

It taking 3 hours to get from just Surrey to here strawberry floating sucked.

Then again generally it's better to offer services in richer parts of the country, less race to the bottom stuff, more investment - people are still tight arses, but got to look at the upside. If someone laughs off a quote I can just say, "have you seen the council tax bill here for a 2 bed? Mate it won't even pay a quarter of that"

And businesses so regularly go bust because of the business and rent rates that I can probably serve 3 different businesses in the same building within a year.

Interview question:

I've been telling people that I left my last job because I wanted a new challenge, in line with my new qualification.

But now, I really just need anything. This morning I found a job advert which is for slightly less money than I wanted but more than I would expect for this specific job role and the tasks listed in the advert.

It's a job I could do with my eyes closed. So my question is, if I apply and am invited to interview, what do I tell them when asked why I left my last employer/why I want to work for them?

The job is literally a step back from my last one in terms of responsibility and, well, everything.

In the interviews, are they specifically asking you why you left your last job, or are you incorporating that into your answer for the "why you want this job?" type question? If it's the latter then just reframe your answer and avoid mentioning the old job.

I’d stick with the same basic answer “I left as I was looking for a new challenge” but add in that you feel you can really make a difference at this new company and that they seem to be the sort of company that you were looking for. Do some research on them beforehand and mention things about their business and how you believe you can became an integral part of their team. Yadda yadda yadda, all the usual guff.
