Beginning to feel a bit settled now, they are a right mess in some ways so I ahev lots to do but mostly it is all easily fixable and that they just don't know better sort of thing.

Feeling much happier than I was at last place though.

I knew someone who made tables and schedules in PowerPoint which I thought was odd. But then I literally coded a website from scratch based on a director's "design" (it would be generous to even call it a wireframe, nevermind a layout) in PowerPoint, exactly. In one day. They didn't want to use it because they knew it was gooseberry fool to begin with. I walked out.

I knew about indesign, illustrator and Quark when I was 12 looking into the software I would need to learn to make magazines. I didn't know how to use them but I knew what they were for and why they were different. I knew what a PDF actually was and why it was important, and not just for scanning gooseberry fool. That was 17 years ago and now I can call myself a designer.

So many bullshitters out there. The worst thing is when you see them putting dogshit out there doing the damage when a professional was or should have been solicited but bill knows photoshop or whatever. And it's not even about technical skills, half these people can't even strawberry floating spell or communicate coherently. I've learnt to smell this from a mile away now and just wish them good luck, easiest way is to just cut out the bottom end by charging fairly. If Bill can do it, let them, just don't waste my time stealing consultation.

I've been training my first member of staff and gooseberry fool is hard man. I'm getting all the second line tickets because the other second liners are on site (despite not being second line), have all my own long running gooseberry fool as well and training this guy on top. It's killing me. I had 40 tickets today at one point.

One of the managers at work is a proper sleaze bag. Yesterday he was talking about girls’ “boxes” in front of our female office manager in a filthy manner. She could only laugh nervously, presumably because she felt so awkward. This should be unacceptable in any day and age but with everything that’s happened in Hollywood and politics etc you’d think idiots like him would be more considerate. I’m thinking of complaining about it but the very person I would complain to knows it’s happening and would almost certainly do nothing about it. Bit of a dilemma.

I could tell the HR manager. I really doubt she will do anything, though, based on the years I’ve know her.

I was in a meeting with some colleagues a few weeks ago and they started talking about one of our customers; how 'hot' he was, what they'd like to do to him, why we should invite him to one of our meetings purely as some eye candy, etc. Was pretty surprised that they felt it was okay to talk like that at work.

You should invite him to the meeting. Chance of a work based orgy would increase.

So rude. :x

But seriously, I've heard/seen so many inappropriate things from women at work over the years. They really need to check their privilege and remember that they need to watch what they say as well.

Is it common for people to misunderstand the difference between a quote and an invoice? Got sent some random rounded off amount in response to a quote but a quote isn't a request for payment, it's an offer/proposal for goods and services at a given price.

Just wondering whether I should bother sending formal quote documents in case they get treated as invoices, and keep the price negotiations to email etc?

Interested to hear some general experience on both ends on procurement, sales etc

(By the way the payment wasn't anywhere close the proposed amount so it's more like, here's some money, which is weird. It's not even divisible by any of the amounts in the quite. Very odd.)

Leads me to believe I need to be more clear about the process but there is a history of barely any communication.

She may not but the decent thing to do is report it, if nothing happens at lest you did your bit sort of thing.
