This was the last thing I expected to happen.
You should ask them if you are so valuable why they didn't treat you better before. Then ask for an extra 20%. Once they've agreed, say you are still leaving.

Feeling like I could nail it tonight. I just hope I feel this way on Tuesday. No doubt my stomach will be somersaulting again tomorrow though.

Self employed problems: staying up until 5am researching which heat gun will be a better return on investment and not crap out when it's needed.

Then remembering it's ok to get up at midday and carrying on thinking about gooseberry fool.

Why do I insist on reinvesting everything I make when successfully selling something.

I don't think the interview went well but I don't think it went badly either. I'm pretty sure the assessment went badly though but I'll found out tomorrow either way. Back to searching for jobs I guess but not to worry. I did what I could.

I blue dabadeed it. :(

It's okay though because I'm reading Happy by Derren Brown and I'm really focusing on all those Stoic thoughts and all those old philosophy things. It's really cool and chill to make you feel okay about bad stuff.

But this isn't bad. I did my best but it didn't work out. No biggy. It's practice for my next interview and there'll be a job out there for me. Hopefully I'll find it within the next 2 months before I run out of money and have to ask my wife to loan me. :dread:

The job I had an interview for in December I never got it but they emailed me today asking if I was still interested in the role and if I wanted to come in and speak to them again, found it a bit strange but still told them no.

I'm guessing they hired someone who didn't work out and you were their second best candidate?

Ah did you hear back or am I reading it wrong? As you say, just interview practice, get some constructive feedback and get the next one.

Some of you might remember the issues I was having with my rote office job a while back, and that I quit and moved to France. The goal, as well as moving in with my missus who is from here, was to focus on becoming a freelance writer/editor. In fact, my New Year's resolution was to get paid for writing something.

So far I've been working gratis. I was head English language proofreader for the big design conference my other half was involved in, and created an English city guide for them (here, if anyone's interested). I'm also doing the copy for the websites of a few artist types based over in Switzerland.

Today however, it looks like I got my first paid job. It's only a proofreading/light copy-editing gig but it's on a small indie game that's coming out later this year. Needless to say, I'm pretty damn excited.

Games wot I worked on:
Night Call: Out now!
Rip Them Off: Out now!
Chinatown Detective Agency: 2021!
EXOGATE Initiative: Early Access Summer 2021

Well done Taff!

My new job is going really well, almost been there a month already which seems crazy. Working with ex colleagues from mad catz is great as we always made a good team and got on well, so to plug that straight back in makes me feel right at home. Extremely short commute, most money I've ever been paid and the days zip by. Spot on so far.
