Got tomorrow, Friday and Monday off BD

You're working Saturday and Sunday?

No, I don't count those as days off since I have them off anyway.

So you have 5 days off.

9 months today since I started my job and I still strawberry floating hate it, even more now than before.

Need to start looking for a position outside my old place. I've already applied there twice and not been successful :fp:.

Anyone got recommendations for general public sector work that can be found in a big city, e.g. regulatory, educational etc?

There should be an MP slot available soon if you feel like going into politics. :shifty:

Why limit yourself to the public sector?

What kind of thing do you do at the moment? Sounds like quite a broad scope there.

Is this some kind of veiled threat? Should we be taking this to the authorities?

No, I would hope the woman who used an extremely racist comment will lose her job.

Work have started rolling out the 360 review process, calling it a "development tool." Utter bullshit. 360 reviews are a way to increase pressure, increase fear and pit colleagues against each other. They are, and this is a bit conspiratorial but still, a tool of oppression.

Sent an anonymous comment to this effect. If they introduce them for all staff, as intended, I'm off. I've got a 3 month sabbatical coming up in September and I already think my days here are few, but this would be the tipping point.

It was a threat I think, but an empty one. There is no way Staydead would manage to get the bus on time to catch the train to the underground station to catch the tube to where the MP lives. His days as an assassin are just going to spent moaning about public transport rather than actually assassinating.

Basically they ask everyone who works around you, peers, subordinates, managers, customers and other related parties, to rate your performance and give comment. It's supposed to be anonymous, but I work on a team of 6 so it absolutely won't be.

It sicks colleagues on each other and increases negativity in the workplace. It's asking people who are unqualified to review you, often swayed by personal feelings, to review you. It's been found to be an inaccurate performance indicator, a questionable development tool and generally is no better than a standard review process. But the amount of pressure and fear it inspires is much greater.

We had something like this a few years ago. I wrote some quite critical comments for my then manager (basically wrote him up as a "banana split" in professional terms). I'm sure he would realise it was me as we had a fairly sour working relationship.

Yes?

Has anyone ever worked with a colleague who's insanely beautiful, and they blatantly use it to get away with gooseberry fool/not do work/get their own way? :slol:

We had someone start recently who is stunning. Like you go out somewhere with them and everyone's head turns to look at them. But they frequently do gooseberry fool that's anybody else would get taken to ask for; late for meetings, cancelling meetings last minute, 'forgetting' to do work, not doing what they'll say they do, etc - and people just let it slide because she smiles sweetly at them and gives this puppy-dog-eyes look. She even puts this overly apologetic tone that - combined with her admittedly sexy accent - just turns people into putty. What's annoying is that I've fallen for it myself, and it's so difficult to resist.

I've wised up to it lately though and I think she's noticed, as she's almost gone into overdrive with the whole act. I worked with someone similar before who was a lot younger and (seeimingly) completely oblivious to how she breezed through everything because people bent over backwards to do things for her and let things slide. I was her friend outside work so told her one day and she seemed stunned. This new woman though is older and clearly knows what affect she has, and goes out her way to use it to her advantage. I don't know whether to be annoyed, jealous, impressed, or all three.
