To update you on myself, we had an extra pair of hands back today which helped a LOT. I also didn't try to rush and finish everything as soon as I could. If people have to wait because I'm busy they have to wait.

I feel a HELL of a lot better because of that. I'm prioritising like I was before, but I'm in no rush to complete everything in one go, so not only can I concentrate I also don't get overloaded with gooseberry fool to do.

Good that's the way it should be, you can only get done what you get done, don't let quality slip in the persuit of a 0 list, you will just more assigned, do your job right and dont worry about stuff there being u assigned gooseberry fool that's the managers problem to make sure everyone else is pulling their weight.

Congratulations.

And commiserations to the poor sod who went through the same interviews and tests but didn't get the job.

The company I work for got bought out a couple of years ago, which sparked rumours of redundancies all round which never materialised and we were assured it wouldn't at the time. Just last week, however, two people from the same team (pretty much the whole team) handed in their notice and yesterday a sales person quit.

I have heard that we have put recruiting replacements on hold as we are struggling to pay our bills, apparently and we've been haemorrhaging customers for years. It's shitty times for the business and it really feeels like it's coming to the end. I've been here 8 (eight) years and have been looking into potential redundancy and it looks like I could get £4K.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is there any loophole the company can use to get out of paying this severance?

I know, I thought that too. I'm sure i did pretty gooseberry fool in my final interview too so maybe the fifth interview finally got to them and they just collapsed or something, amazed i got offered it.

Although HR were meant to be in touch with the details today and haven't been so already gonna have to do some chasing, fun fun.

Annnnd been made redundant. 12 years with the company, god damn that is a long time looking back. Most of 20’s spent there, somber but I’ve got to look at is it the time to finally try for something I know I’m more capable of. I’ve been comfortable for years but got to remain optimistic that I can achieve more.

Off on mini break Thursday that I had planned, great timing  :fp:

I would think the only "loophole" is if they have run out of money. So if they are trying to stay in business, better to go whilst they have money to pay redundancy rather than holding off until they have nothing left....

*edit* that was a response to Blue Eyes. Thought I'd quoted him but clearly phone said "no".

Oof - sorry to hear that, Floex. But, as you say, it could be the chance to start afresh. Enjoy your break first, anyway.

That’s gooseberry fool to hear.

I’m sure you’re already aware but check out your rights and make sure you don’t get screwed over. 12 years service should mean 12 weeks notice as well as the redundancy pay they’ll owe you.

If you get bored you can draw some T-shirts or decals and I'll do profit share on the net profit on each sale (non-exclusive license). :toot:

Cheers Moggy, been going through the paperwork and now that link so I think I know what I’m owed.

I really want to do 50% no less so not mugging any artist off, think about it, just try to be sensible in terms of IP and trademarks :)

My boss from the last place got in touch last night and asked me to come back for an increased salary.

Should have given me the money I asked for in the first place
