That wasn't the finale was it? It's on again next week right? right?

That all in all was pretty ridiculous and everything seemed to be decided by really arbitrary restrictions (e.g. allowing one person to come back from the dead!?!). Also there's no way the master would let him/herself get killed that easily so I'm incredibly confused about everything. Pretty much nothing was resolved. The Masters Tardis is still missing, Danny for some reason was one of two people in the entire world who somehow managed to avoid control by the cyber controller and the Master lied about where galliphrey was.

That was one of the most baffling finales I've ever seen of any show. I can't say whether it was good or bad because I liked some parts and hated others. I liked how the master this time was a bit more sinister without losing his cleverness, which was something John Simms Master did as he turned into a complete maniac.

Capaldi can sell any garbage as if it was Shakespeare but that was pretty godawful. Moffat is really starting to outdo the old regime with shitty endings. We will always have Simms' great turn as the Master. Can we just have one ending that doesn't conclude on "power of love conquers all".

Thought it had some great moments and some awful ones. Genuinely loved Michelle Gomez's performance and she was pretty brutal too, killing off Osgood and (at least we thought) Kate Stewart.

The whole emotions overcoming the odds thing is getting a bit tiresome though.

It seemed like they didn't really make enough of the opening gag of Clara saying she was the Doctor and switching the order of her Capaldi's names along with her eyes in the titles. I thought they were gonna stretch that idea for longer but it was a pretty quick resolution...

Didn't really like Osgood, I'm not bothered by her death :shifty:

Equally, I disliked Danny Pink - he was a right moany, whingey sod through most of the series. This episode would've been more impactful if I'd cared about him. Glad he's gone TBH.

I hope Missy returns though!

That was gooseberry fool. Worst series since the reboot and some of this was utter strawberry floating nonsense.

Yes?

Scene: top secret bunker with all the world's leaders.
David Cameron: Israel, Palestine, knock it off! Russia, Ukraine, chill your boots! Koreas, calm down! I know you have your issues, but this is important! If we're invaded by aliens, I propose we make another alien President of Earth. He's a good alien though, so don't worry...
Everyone: YES, THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT WE MUST DO.

A decent finale overall, despite issues like the one above. I think the scene in the cafe was very poignant and a good way to end the series. I did have a WTF moment at the final bit though (like many of us!). Christmas special could go either way :slow:

Well as a series it was average at best.

Capaldi was the single shining light in the whole thing.

The finale was, as with so many episodes this season, a mixture of good and bad.

The Good:
Capaldi, as usual.
Cybermen from beyond the grave. Ok, I quite liked the idea.
Return of the Master.
No Gallifrey. Capaldi's rage was awesome.
Nick Frost reveal for Christmas special

The Bad:
The Doctor as "President Of Earth".
Every attempt at humour.
Ollie from "The Thick Of It" being a gimp.
Love conquering all. Again.
Danny beaming back the kid from BEYOND THE GRAVE!!! (Seriously, why not just send him directly back to his parents. Instead dump him in a foreign country, with a weird woman who has absolutely no idea who he is or where he's from)

I feel kind of bad for Capaldi. He's been handed some of the poorer episodes of Who since it came back.
For me there weren't any episodes where I didn't like the idea behind it, but the writing has really been hit and miss this time around.

Yeah, I's agree with it being a pretty average series this time. Capaldi is great though, hopefully he'll get some good gooseberry fool next series.

No way in hell. The majority of this series has been good. There's only been a few duff episodes, unlike Ecclestones series which was awful.
