What is a E-cigarette?

Image

Scientists say that if all smokers in the world switched from cigarettes to electronic cigarettes, it could save millions of lives.

In the UK there are currently about 100,000 deaths per year attributable to smoking, worldwide it is estimated to be more than five million.

Now researchers are hopeful that an increasing use of e-cigarettes could prevent some of these deaths.

But some groups warn that e-cigarettes could normalise smoking.

An estimated 700,000 users smoke e-cigarettes in the UK, according to Action on Smoking and Health. Some users combine "vaping", as it is often called, with traditional cigarettes while others substitute it for smoking completely.

E-cigarettes have also recently be found to be just as effective as nicotine patches in helping smokers quit.

I started off as a test with Disposables:-

Image

£6 for the equivalent of 40 cigs from Superdrug.

I then moved on to a refillable's as they were meant to be better/cheaper:-

Image

Aqwa Square iTaste V3 (VV/VW) Replaceable Kit for £40 - http://www.ukecigstore.com/e-cigarettes ... e-kit.html

Liquid refills are about £10 for a few weeks supply (your milage may vary depending on much you vape) e.g http://www.ukecigstore.com/e-liquid/e-l ... -cola.html

I've gone from a £4/10 cigs a day habit down to 1 cig a day habit and now for 3 weeks and counting a £4 a week on vaping/0 cigs a day habit whilst on them. I'm personally prefer the fruity flavours using them 2/3 of the time with tobacco type flavours the rest of the time.

Anyone else Vaping here or maybe friends/family are? Feel free to ask any questions, I've only been doing it for 6 weeks though.

While I'm not a smoker, I think they're a fantastic idea and a great aid to quitting. They help overcome the psychological barriers to quitting while easing the physiological barriers.

Whilst I gave up smoking ten years ago the purple light on the first pic looks so cool that I'm considering taking up e-cigarettes.

My main concern with these is that some people are under the impression that they're harmless, but nicotine is terrible for you cardiovascularly.

In comparison to tobacco smoke, however, then yeah, great idea.

Personally, I wouldn't use them even without nicotine despite liking smoking as I don't like the idea of inhaling vaporised propylene glycol.

I smoke my friends when I'm out. But never in my life have I smoked cigarettes (properly). I should probably stop playing with it like its a toy...but it does taste fruity.

Been vaping for almost two years now, could never go back to the death sticks now.
Used to smoke 20 a day, Malboro reds till they got stupidly expensive and switched over to royals for a time.

Been through a lot of mods, disposables etc, but favour box mods and variable voltage now for my all day mainstays.

Generally vape RY4 though the amounts of flavours around make it easy to switch it up from time to time.

The Irish site bargain vapours is a great place to look for large quantities of supplies for a decent price. Delivery isn't too bad either. Though a innokin VTR I ordered recently was oddly dispatched and sent via Germany for some crazy reason.

The VtR is a beast, mostly brass and stainless steel its a heavy old mod, but feature rich, variable wattage and voltage and 18650 battery powered for good all day use.

The new Iclear 30s tanks it comes with are also solid and vape incredibly well.

Check out ECF forum if you want a forum more focused on ecigs and for help and advice with mods and accessories for ya ecigs, it's quite US centric but they are a good bunch and pretty helpful to new Vapers.

Why?

there's very little research on the subject.
edit: It even says so in the article you linked.

I use one, they're a great help. However I do occasionally have a real smoke if I'm out having a drink.

Other than that though I stick to the e-cig.
