Not as impressive as skyrim was from the get go.

Kinda went off on my own wee adventure and got rolled by everything, so had to go back and head off to some island and do loads of fetching things.

Like how the levelling works, and being able to assign attacks to the controller, don't like there's no quick weapon swap, or at least I haven't found out how to yet.

The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them in parliament.

Annoyingly you get a quick weapon set swap button at level 15! :|

Right one of my mates has got this and is trying to persuade me to get it. It's £30 at Game at the moment with an additional 750 Crowns (which I'm assuming is the in-game currency, as I don't think you'd need that many pieces of headgear...) so is it worth my while? I currently only play FIFA and think this may fill a gap for quick play sessions here and there when me and my pal are both online. Thoughts?

I picked this up (digitally) on a bit of a whim (well, thanks to Jawa's enthusiasm for it on here, in truth), although I have always enjoyed the Elder Scrolls games a lot, but haven't really bothered with online RPGs before.

I'm not too far in, I'm at Level 8, but I am quite enjoying it, partly because it really is easy to drop in and out of in between other games. It looks decent and the online stuff all seems to work very well. To be honest, I'm really playing this single-player, although the occasional team-up during a quest has got me out of a few scrapes.

So far though the quests themselves have been more than a little repetitive, so if I wasn't playing in short bursts I doubt I'd be too thrilled. I'm hoping the whole thing picks up fairly soon, mind.

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

Yeah, I agree with Finish.Last that some of the early missions can be a bit basic i.e. fetch quests; albeit if you're new to MMOs (like me) then they're decent fun. Once you reach higher levels the missions branch out more and you can team up with others to tackle biggers beasts.

I'm new to MMOs and I've started both FF XIV and ESO this year; both on PS4. I like both of them but each has the edge in different areas. FF XIV allows cross-platform play (i.e. you play alongside PS3, PS4 and PC players) and the player interaction is superior (you can use a bluetooth keyboard to communicate). It has a bit more polish than ESO and the envoronments are terrific. ESO is more "realistic" and it still looks good, although the player interaction is weaker as only voice chat can currently be used on console (you can imagine some of the deliquents that you come across).

I, personally, couldn't choose between them; both are enjoyable and deliver hours of fun. FF XIV requires a monthly subscription (circa £8.50) whilst ESO has an optional monthly subscription (£9.99). You can play the entire game in ESO without subscribing, although the fee grants you Crowns (to spend on vanity items such as outfits and horses) and access to all future DLC (the first of which is launching in September on console).

I find both games to be pretty tough but I have the benefit on FF XIV of being able to ask other GRcadians for guidance; I think fewer folk here play ESO.

A new mount will be available for a limited time in the Crown Shop. The Clouded Senche-Leopard can be bought from 13 to 17 August and the price is TBC. It looks pretty cool:

So my friend that talked me into getting this somehow managed to get his alliances mixed up when telling me to definitely definitely join the Daggerfall Covenant, because was definitely definitely also part of the Daggerfall Covenant. This is so that we can team up and go on adventures together. I follow his instructions, spending a decent chunk of time last night creating my charater and completing the opening missions.

Turns out he's an idiot and is in fact in the Ebonheart Pact :fp:

I don't suppose there's anyway you can switch alliance without having to restart from scratch?

Nope, the races are banded together for specific political and ideological reasons. I would suggest getting better friends.

My girlfriend and I have talked about picking this back up from where we left off after the initial F2P binge, but we'd both rather play Wildstar, which is somewhat telling.

The new pack seems to add a lot of content and (regardless of whether you buy the pack or not) updates for the main game:
Orsinium DLC Game Pack Features & Content

With the purchase of the Orsinium DLC game pack, you get access to the full city of Orsinium and zone of Wrothgar. That includes the following:

Over 20 hours of captivating story content and quests
A long-awaited exploration of the culture of Tamriel's Orcs
A colossal new zone available to characters of all levels
A new single-player progressive challenge, The Maelstrom Arena
Available in Normal and Veteran versions
Grants special rewards only obtainable by completing arenas
Includes class-specific leaderboards, so you can see how you match up against your fellow combatants
Quests and objectives that contribute to rebuilding the city of Orsinium, returning it to its former glory
Two large public dungeons, Old Orsinium and Rkindaleft, featuring all-new challenges for both solo and group play
Special harvest nodes that scale to the most advanced material type your character can use for crafting
Six all-new, challenging world bosses
Powerful new gear, unique crafting styles, and other rewards inspired by the history and denizens of Wrothgar
Four new Provisioner recipes, only available in Wrothgar
18 powerful new item sets including 6 ability-altering weapons, 9 sets obtained by participating in activities in Wrothgar, and 3 new craftable sets
The Ancient Orc crafting style
Six new collectible costumes only available in Wrothgar
Over an hour of brand new in-game musical score

Orsinium Base-Game Patch

In addition to the Orsinium DLC game pack launch, everyone who owns The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited will receive the base-game patch at no cost. The Orsinium base-game patch includes gamepad support for PC, subtitles for all platforms, shield dyeing, improvements to battle-leveling, fixes and improvements to existing game systems and content, and more! Here are some of the highlights:

Gamepad support
Subtitles
LFG improvements – cross-alliance dungeons
Champion Point cap & catch-up system
Shield Dyeing
Improvements to battle-leveling
Akaviri crafting style
Ability balance and bug fixes
New ways to spend Alliance Points
Increased item drop rates
…and more!

Hot on the heels of the recent Imperial City update, ESO is really starting to turn ino a huge adventure. I'm excited to see this new stuff in the game!

Just the right time to revisit this then.

I'd be surprised if it's 50% off by December, Photek - it is being released for XBO on 17 November. More likely that the core game will be reduced, with Bethesda making up the money on the DLC and other in-game Crown purchases.

The 12 days of xmas sales on X1 can be insane. I'd be suprised if the DLC isn't half price tbh.

So I got Elder Scrolls Online on Xbox One (...and pc version too) and I'm really enjoying it as singleplayer game. As MMO it's very confusing :shifty:

Also WHY NO TEXT CHAT ON CONSOLE VERSIONS? That was huge reason why I'm playing through ESO as another singleplayer game on Xbox One.
Why no subtitles? Why? Why?

And lack of cross-server really hurts, but I know that already anyway.

But yeah, I think I'm done with most of stuff in Stonehaven - just taking my time exploring the area to see if there's any quests I missed. My build is stealth dualwield user, he's fun to use. HP Drain is brilliant.

Recently got back into this and after forgetting the controls and being disorientated I was back in the swing of things! Love it.

Nice one, Photek! I too drifted away for a few months but I'm keen to get back into it. The new Orsinium (Orc) area is out for both XBO and PS4 now... I think it'll be a while before I'm skilled up to enter that zone, though.

Oh and I got the DLC (both major add ons) at 40% off in X1 Black Friday sale. I'm at a hard point in campaign. Might ask a randomer if they'd help. Still a decent amount of people on, and not all are super high levels. Planning to play this a lot over Xmas.
