Use the tried and tested method I always use when trying to lighten my load in these games. Go to your home, dump everything you have into a chest and then take out only what you need. This is time consuming but it saves you lugging around a load of rubbish you otherwise wouldn't think to get rid of.

I just think "why do I need this stuff?" I barely buy off the merchants so apart from getting property, I don't need most of the things.

You could probably abuse the enchanting/alchemy mechanics to make a necklace or ring of ridiculous carrying capacity boost?

Not tried it myself

Absolutely loving Skyrim all over again courtesy of the Switch. Play it in handheld or desktop mode for the majority of time and it's sweet. Looks lovely, no issues with the text size, frame rate or resolution.

Only at Bleak Falls Barrow (at the 3 ring door puzzle) though. Taking my time so far

I've still yet to reach the Greybeards or Windhelm and I'm at 32hrs+. Playing as a Level 14 Dark Elf concentrating on Archery, Sneak, Destruction, Lockpicking mainly.

Loving this game all over again. Only frustration is carrying loot even with Sven in tow is getting problematic. Keep trying to sell extras but vendors run out of money quicker than I run out of things to sell

Quick question, is it worth me keeping the Dragon Bones and Scales or ok to sell? Yet to earn enough money to buy a property so Sven is carrying shedload around for me!

I'm surprised you can't afford a house if you're also running out of money from vendors. The shops in whiterun have like 300-1000 gold each. You want to be storing the dragon bones and scales in your house to use later, but its not vital as you'll be able to get more.

The pattern I follow is to only loot arrows, jewelery, potions, scrolls, gems, ingredients. Don't bother looting regular equipment - money is easy to come by and the weight makes them not worth it. I also take enchanted equipment because I want to learn the enchantments, and they sell for a lot more.

I live in Breezhome, it's a good place to the wife to work her stall and the little one to play about safely. I also get about 1000 every few days off the missus when I pop in to drop loot off and sleep. Pet fox is a pain though, noisy f**ker.

Need to go back to the VR version. I've been distracted by other stuff the past few weeks, so I want to continue my wanderings.

Can never justify buying a house once Hearthfire was released.

I punted the first few lots of dragon bones for some good coin. Can't upgrade Dragon Armour until much later when highly skilled in armour crafting anyway

On my epic 300+ hour save that I had on the PS3 version I don't think I ever bothered with dragon armour. I much preferred the look of the daedric armour and just stuck with that, despite it not offering quite as much protection. But by that stage of the game I was basically a god walking among ants so the damage I took was minimal.

This is my first non-sneaky-archer playthrough that I've managed to make stick as a two-handed tank, but I still consider dragon bones to be nothing but a payday.

Also, never more than 5k?? I remember grinding on the 360 version to have 100k gold, then buying THE WORLD once I had it. Fully kitting out a house costs about 20k (off the top of my head, could be wrong), but once you start dumping jewels and scrolls, it's not an issue. Have a general rule when looting that I don't take anything I can't fence for 20x it's carry weight (dragon bones excluded).

I must admit that one of the few mod types I do regularly stick on for this is to allow the player to carry more loot, and ones to allow shops more gold to buy your gooseberry fool. The way the base game is built just does not make for a fun looting/selling game in my book.

Reading people going back to this via Switch and VR has inspired me to return to my last run at the Special Edition. I have such an odd relationship with this game, there are so many things that I don't like about it and yet I'm at well over 200hrs played!

The other odd thing about my life with Skyrim is that, like Oblivion before it, I've never actually pushed on with the "main quest" beyond the opening - I just tend to ramble and pick off side quests. This time I've been making an effort to try and change that and have, as far as I can tell, just finished the main story (well I've killed Alduin at least). My initial reaction - is that it?! It all seems very short and underwhelming, basically dick about through a few dungeons/temples and then kill a dragon that was no harder than any other dragon in the game. Please tell me there is more to it than that?!

Skyrim is more about the journey than the destination...

That's to say that yeah the main quest is a bit gooseberry fool and is largely unsatisfying in its finale.
