Played around 17 hours so far and can't be arsed going back to it any time soon, to be honest.

I'm 52 hours into it and enjoying every bit of it now, still haven't taken the horn back to the Greybeards what with there being so many damn side quests.

How do you tell how many hours you've played?

I am getting ever so slightly over some of it now though, I have to admit.

Find the save file in its folder and hover over it for a few seconds and it'll pop up, or when you go to overwrite a save, hover there.

About 140 hours in now and only the companions and mages quests done.

Might actually press on with the main story next, but then i think i have the Dark Brotherhood to startwhen i finally get to riften...

She's about as much of a non entity as you can get in Skyrim.

Oh I wasn't saying she was memorable, just that I remember her name due to spending 80% of the game with her. Ulfric too: he's not a memorable character be he's so prominent that I can remember his name. Everyone else just falls into Oblivion though.

I'm finding just the opposite at the moment - I've left the main political quest and its crowd scene battles until I'm able to enjoy the power of shouting at its fullest potential.

"Oh, look! That group of a dozen or so are perilously clustered on these surprisingly precipitous ramparts..."

Played it for some 100+ hours and as great as its characters/dialogue/missions were (though I can hardly remember any of the side missions, same goes for characters -but then I do have a pretty naff memory) the game just cannot compete with Skyrim when it comes to the random moments leaving you speechless and gawking in amazement stakes. In that sense Skyrim is just on another level compared to Fallout 3 and New Vegas.

O that's true, for sure. I won't even try to refute that, I actually agree with that. It's just that there's a huge blackhole in my gameplay experience of it because I just don't feel as involved in the gameworld due to the things it does lack.

I'm still playing it, I feel I can only play it in small short bursts though before I get bored. Games like Kotor 2 and The Darkness, where they have a shitload of technical flaws or just plain annoying gameplay elements, their story, characters, dialogue, quests and plotlines went a looooooooooooong way for it to overcome those flaws and deliver an amazing game on the whole.

Skyrim is still exceptional, an exceptional 8/10 game, and it misses out on a 10 because of what it lacks. I'm loathe to uninstall it in the fear that I may actually miss a good plotline or quest, and I have to say that 1 out of every 15 quests I've done, has actually been pretty great.

I can totally relate because I usually do hope for those things in most games I play (I'm a sucker for a good plot twist) but for me the overworld more than made up for it what with it being such a great place to go exploring. But I do agree that there are a number of things that let the game down.

:fp: at self. Apologies for the misunderstanding.

I've moved house and played this for the first time in over two weeks on Sunday night; didn't feel right and switched it off after about 15 minutes. :(

I'm sure I'll get back into it... Right?

Edit - played it a bit more last night for about an hour. Was a bit better but still not feeling it too much. I only played 'cause I was strawberry floating bored. Hell, I was even going to play the BF3 campaign initially, before I remembered that I'd traded it in. :fp:

Started a new game.

Gave the character (dark elf female) war paint. Only just noticed it's made it look like she has a soul patch :fp:

I got rid of it. I don't have time to spend on a game if it's just art work and nothing else. A lot of the locations are fantastic, but after the initial wow phase, it's just boring. I really wanted to love the game as well.

jamcc, I had a few days where I felt the same and was devastated. Thankfully I got back into it but not without some help from portal 2 giving me a dose of something different. Just try going back to it again another time, maybe when you're more in the mood for it.

I'm sure many of you have seen the headless horseman ghost riding about? Is there a quest related to him or anything? I try to follow him but can't keep up and he doesn't speak.

:| There's a headless horseman ghost? strawberry floating game  Not seen it yet. Maybe on my new playthrough. Speaking of the game still having stuff up its sleeve even after all this time... I don't recall ever hearing birds flying off en masse, and making a racket as they do so, during my original playthrough. Had it happen a few times on this new one.

I shot some arrows at him, but nothing happened. It was weird.

Yeah, devasted sounds extreme but I think it fairly accurately describes how I felt/feel. When I was playing the game before I felt it was probably the second best game I've ever played... But now it just feels... Off. A bit boring.

I'm gonna keep trying and I'm sure I'll get back into it like you did. Might get Forza 4 for something completely different.

I wonder when they will announce the DLC?
I'd be interested if it had some nice new quests and if they could do something with the piss poor inventory system that would be rather nice as well.

The inventory system is okay on consoles though.

Because it was designed for consoles.

I do have Deus Ex to turn to but as it's a fairly similar type of game I'm worried that, if I get into it, it'll kill Skyrim for me and I can't have that. :-(
