Just some more info and help on obtaining Banish...

Finding merchants that sell items with this effect for disenchantment purposes is only possible when you are level 22 or higher, and even then can be difficult and tedious since they appear rarely. You can try checking a blacksmith and if they have none in stock you can wait 48 hours for the inventory to reset and check again.

Alternatively, you can quicksave next to the vendor, check their inventory, and if they don't have it, reload the save. Their inventory will be refreshed.

Saving and reloading next to vendor doesn't always give you a fresh inventory. Save the game, kill the vendor, reload save game < that will.

Strange, I've found a weapon with banish whilst under level 22 at least twice. Try doing the Rising Dawn quest in Dawnstar...

I can believe that.

Skyrim makers create dragon riding, Kinect shouts, new skill trees

"Could it be in a future DLC? We don't know."

Bethesda Game Studios created dragon mounts, Kinect shouts, a werewolf skill tree and more as part of a Game Jam for Skyrim, Todd Howard has revealed.

Speaking at the DICE 2012 keynote in Las Vegas, Howard revealed a raft of new features Bethesda's staff made work in the gargantuan fantasy role-playing game as part of a work week dedicated to new ideas.

Features added included seasonal foliage, spears, kill cams, water arrows for enhanced stealth, new follower commands, building your own home, goblins, mounted combat, dragon mounts, Kinect shouts, added skill trees, becoming a flying vampire, a huge mud crab and, wait for it, fat giants.

Oh, and werebears.

You can see a lot of these ideas in action in the video below, which Howard premiered during his keynote.

Will any of these features see the light of day in an official, Bethesda-stamped capacity?

"Could it be in a future DLC? We don't know," Howard said. "Could various parts of it just be released for free? We don't know."

Meanwhile, Howard revealed a whopping ten million people are playing Skyrim. PC players average 75 hours of game time. How many hours have you clocked?

A replay of Howard's entertaining keynote, in which he explains Bethesda's design decisions as it created Skyrim, is on GameSpot  http://au.gamespot.com/shows/gamespot-l ... te20120208

Please to be releasing all that please. Please?

faek edit: watch the video at the Gamespot link. Some good stuff on it about Bethesda's early years.

  Building your own house, seasonal stuff and Dragon riding.

Im hoping that the Creation kit will give us this!

Some awesome ideas in that video, probably mostly stuff that had to be cut during development. Hopefully they include a lot of it in DLC to keep things fresh.

Attention ps3 owners of Skyrim!

Skyrim patch 1.4 performance tip: make a new manual save

There's a knack to getting good PS3 performance gains from new Skyrim patch 1.4, Bethesda has revealed.

1. To ensure the fastest jump in performance after applying the patch, be sure to first create a new manual save by entering the save menu and choosing 'save game'. You should then restart your PlayStation 3 before continuing to play.

2. If you encounter strange behaviour while playing immediately following application of the patch, do not be alarmed - this is a temporary effect of Skyrim scripts correcting themselves after the update. Once this process runs its course, be sure to make a new save and restart your PlayStation 3.

Wandering about Skyrim trying to level up Restoration so I can get Respite perk (healing spells also restore Stamina), came across a place called Refugee's Rest (east of Windhelm, past Traitor's Post). Outside the tower is a pedestal with a book upon it called Decree of Monument, it was written in 4E 20. Basically, it says all are welcome. I wish I could take it over to Windhelm and stuff it down Ulfric's craw.

I doubt it.

faek edit:

Q1- Can you still get the achievement if you sell the artifacts?

A- Yes you only have to have got them once after that you are free to do with them at your own will (sell them etc)

Just downloaded the 2.03 patch and done the whole new-save-then-restart process, and I have to say the results are immediate. Walking through Whiterun is no longer a stop-motion experience.

At last

£34+ at Gameplay (360)

£32+ at SimplyGames (ps3)

I think it was on offer on Steam recently, not 100% sure though.

Selling them doesn't matter and if you've read the book it still counts as well.

Right, so after it warming my shelves for the best part of 2 months, I've finally gone and started this game. I've only done a few quests so far, so very first impressions.

I have only recently played through Oblivion and so it's fresh in mind and I can draw direct comparisons. My first is that the UI in Skyrim is far worse. I don't like the maps or menus at all. There's nothing instantly accessible. You have to always go through that first "items/magic/map" page, rather than pressing menu and it being where you were last looking. Then you have to go back through it again to go to your spells, or the map. And the quests are on the start menu rather than just save/load! It seems like they had an idea of what they wanted the menus to look like, rather than adapting them to be more useful.

The next gripe is that I can't seem to map weapons to the D-Pad, only bring up a menu by pressing it, and selecting with the triggers. I much prefer Oblivion's system, instantly changing weapons rather than breaking up the gameplay.

Now that's out of the way, something more positive..

I really like how it seems to have more personality. Whilst I haven't journeyed that far, the people/locations seem a lot better in their design. Obviously, since five years have passed since Oblivion, it looks much nicer as well.

Like I said, really early impressions - just a little disappointed with the menus. Also it's making me feel motion sick as well, so I might have to switch to 3rd person view.
