I've played this now for a good few hours (im level 12), the main differences are the lighting, it's very impressive, especially in some caves to see the particles float around and stuff. draw distance is more, and Riften is totally different. The wood textures are hugely improved and the fog around means it just looks and feels like a world apart from the original.

I've decided I'm going to wait for the Pro to arrive before I get stuck into this as I doubt I'll be able to transfer my save from one to the other.

Just had a couple of random crashes on PS4 and just when I was thinking the game was running fine. Frustratingly they were both right in the middle of story quests. Thanks to auto saves I didnt have that much to redo but it's still annoying.

I think that's just rose tintedness. I played Skrim on 360 for over 200hrs and I could see the difference in textures, performance and lighting immediately. Character models are no worse or better than Fallout 4's. :|

Yeah, I'd agree with that, Photek... the graphics - environments, lighting and draw distance in particular - have improved but the basic models are still as per the original version. For anyone new to the game, the update offers a fresh coat of paint to brighten things up.

If you're going from the old console versions to the new console versions then there's definite improvements there, plus the introduction of Mod support. And if you were a playstation owner the game is now actually playable for more than an hour or so.

It's really the PC version which, at the moment, is no worthwhile improvement on the vanilla version and certainly worse if you used mods until mod support catches up. Once the mods start really rolling out/getting updated though then the new version will most definitely be the one to have, if nothing else because of it now being 64-bit allowing mods bigger than ever before to be made.
I got the updated PC version for free, but god I'd be pissed off if I'd paid £30 for it.

I'm excited to see what Mods are possible on X1 but they will be a year or so out cos I do like my 'chievo's, It could give the game an endless life in the long run though.

I just bought 'my' house in White run and adopted a homeless girl that was begging in The Bannered Mare Inn. My house Jarl Lydia now resides with little Lucia while I roam about. I gave Lucia a knife and she went into her room and went nut so with it. I'll post gif in a bit!

Just wait until you're asleep....she'll kill you as you're resting!

I downloaded the PC version but to be fair I think the mods on the original PC version have made the game alot better than going to the 'enchanced' version that's been released. So think I'll be going back to playing that.

It's such a good game though, nothing better than creating a new character and going off in a brand new direction.

I never managed to get into this when I played it in the past, but it's finally clicked with me and I'm really enjoying it. No idea which mods are worth adding on the PC though.

I gave her a knife too, hopefully she doesn't end up accidentally stabbing the fox she has adopted :D
