Watching Brexit unfold reminds me of that guy in Austin Powers who doesn't get out of the way of the slow-moving oncoming steamroller.

This is starting to get a bit scary. Even if we somehow put the breaks on this, the damage is likely done.

The UK to become like Mad Max.

A competent government would be able to negotiate an exit that would do the least damage possible. That these clowns are cheered on to not do so, at the expense of the country's future prospects is deeply distressing now.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Express/Mail/Telegraph run headlines tomorrow along the lines of "EU RETREATS FROM UK"

I think the scariest thing is that we just continue to underperform. If you think about the time before the UK joined, we weren't suffering from any catastrophic event, it was just that we were growing slower and progressing slower than other countries.

Since the referendum we have gone from the fastest growing country in Europe to the slowest growing. In short term that is not a problem but imagine if it went on for years on end... Eventually the UK just slowly falls behind.

Britain’s prosperity has always been based on trade and stealing gooseberry fool from less developed nations. In the modern world we can’t steal stuff anymore and we just voted to leave the largest trading bloc in the world.

This country literally voted to make itself poorer and less relevant. :fp:

If we do become 'the sick man of Europe' again, perhaps once the older generations are gone we'll eventually rejoin the EU. If that happens some day, I hope I'm alive to see it.

The problem is that we'll never get back on the amazing deal we had before. Rebates? strawberry float no. Subsidies? Far less. Influence? We'll be a laughing stock told to stop bothering the adults. Currency? Euro or strawberry float off.

Right now I'd happily take the Euro.

If you read the article it's says it's because the Eurotunnel company is doing other things as well. The tunnel itself has always just been the Channel Tunnel. I think the Guardian are being misleading to generate more interest than company rebranding really deserves.

So Labour are a bunch of banana splits as well. We’re absolutely, irredeemably strawberry floated now.

I’m not sure what they’ve done to set you off but I’m surprised you’ve only just realised.

Corbyn wants Brexit more than May does, lots of Labour MPs want to Remain but they’ll mostly do what their leader wants.

Well I wasn’t expecting all their front benchers to vote us out of the customs union and single market but I guess I wasn’t paying close enough attention.

With any other leader they might not have, but it’s been clear for a long time that Corbyn was going to do that.

Yeah but they're only voting us out because we have to as part of Brexit.
They'll then renegotiate us in
Can't negotiate access without first losing it!

(That's genuinely what some Corbynitess believe)
