So when does the armaggedon happen then? Remainers can't say "nothing has happened yet" any more but presumably the goal posts will move to the actual date of exit and then moved to a watered down "gradual decline" once we get there? :P

Won't most of the EU laws and regs be passed onto our new life outside anyway?

Teresa May is explaining "what we want with the EU"

It includes a special partnership, free trade, close friendships with our allies.

You mean... what we've had for 30 years already INSIDE the EU?

Stupid strawberry floats.

I think that's the initial plan.

We haven't technically gone anywhere and hopefully in some miracle it can still be turned around.

I just can't believe the stupidity on display by the people who are supposed to be running the country. The turkeys voted for Christmas and the government are currently switching the oven on to pre-heat.

Well nothing has happened yet. We are still an EU member state.

In 2016 the referendum result was for the UK to leave the EU.

In 2017 Article 50 was triggered, this means the UK and EU will negotiate an exit for 2 years.

In 2019 (unless the UK and EU agree to an extension) the UK will leave the EU, with or without a deal

I wouldn't expect a meltdown yet, that happened on the day of the referendum result. Whether there is a meltdown in 2019 will depend on what is negotiated.

Hopefully we can lose the change to credit card charges, gotta get those reward points.

Also, will the £350 million to the NHS be paid pro rata this week or will they just sort out a monthly £1.4 billion for next month?

We aren't getting free trade without freedom of movement, sooooooooooo the wrong tree seems to be outside Downing street.

Imagine if we end up having freedom of movement after all this, plus the plan of implementing EU law into UK law (cheers RotS), what will have actually changed?

We will be paying MORE than we currently pay into the EU and have no say whatsoever what happens within it.

We've literally voted to make our position worse unless we cancel article 50. We will also be under a tory majority government who doesn't give a gooseberry fool if you're not rich and white.

All of this is so depressing. It just feels like a massive backwards step, we are going from being part of a large union of nations, to a small island outpost. Nationalism is such a cancer on the world.

Also the Irish haven't replied yet about my citizenship. Hurry up Ireland, I don't want to wait any longer to find out if I have been accepted!

Wait... what? Where did that figure come from? Stop pulling figures out of your arse.

Why are we even giving this party air time anymore? They have no MPs in Parliament.

But you know.... ££££Brexiteersgottafuckeverythingupforeveryoneelse

That party gets air time because without them, the UK would still be part of the EU.

I can only but thank them for getting me the chance to vote leave.

But..... #Remoanerswillwanttoremoan.

Well I could already point to a weakening pound, and petrol being 20% more expensive. If 20% in eight months is gradual...

UKIP existing as a party and the hardline far right Tory backbenchers (most of them) who have been anti-EU for 30 years are the reason Cameron even suggested this stupid referendum. If it makes you happy then fine Yungstar, but I hope when you're on your deathbed your kids will make you realise in your final moments you made a stupid decision.

You never know, your deathbed may come sooner than you think considering there won't be an NHS you can go to in a few years.

I believe it's from this research from a few months ago:

http://natcen.ac.uk/news-media/press-releases/2016/november/voters-want-uk-to-stay-in-the-eu-single-market-but-be-able-to-control-immigration/

NatCen wrote:Voters want UK to stay in the EU single market but be able to control immigration

Despite their differences many Remain and Leave voters agree on what Brexit should mean

Almost everyone (90%) supports remaining part of the European single market, regardless of how they voted in the EU Referendum, according to a new report published today by NatCen Social Research.

But at the same time as many as seven in ten (70%) think the UK should be able to limit the number of people from the EU who come here to live and work. Indeed, almost three-quarters (74%) believe that potential EU migrants should have to apply to come here in the same way non-EU migrants have to do.

Today’s paper, the most comprehensive study yet undertaken of public attitudes towards the shape that Brexit should take and published as part of the ESRC-funded What UK Thinks: EU project, shows that Leave voters (90% in favour) are almost as keen as Remain voters (94%) on staying in the single market.

Meanwhile, although less than the figure for Leave voters (85%), over half (55%) of Remain supporters are in favour of the UK being able to limit EU immigration.

The results, which come from NatCen’s new methodologically rigorous panel survey, show widespread support both for measures that are often labelled a ‘soft’ Brexit and for those that are widely considered to form part of a ‘hard’ Brexit.

I thought what May said today in her speech, and hasn't put in the letter, is interesting. She admitted there would be consequences, and that no deal would be bad for security (a threat of no deal is also completely absent in the letter). A lightening of previous statements of intent, perhaps.

Just gotta see how it all plays out really.

If they are holding up one of those facts as the truth, then they really ought to take another look at the other one.

We could easily spin that as "90% want to remain in the single market according to a UKIP supported poll"!

UKIP. :fp:

I'm sick of Theresa May telling the country to unite and embrace Brexit. She already said in a speech a few months ago that the country is already united and in support. So that was strawberry floating bullshit, shockingly. And how exactly does she expect us remoaners to embrace something that spells disaster? That's why remoaners gotta remoan, because it's a strawberry floating travesty. I'm not locking arms with the likes of this idiot Yungstar to dance around any maypole. strawberry float her and strawberry float the morons.
