I don't think being rational and decent human beings is part of the DUP makeup.

As others have stated, the DUP are doing more for a United Ireland than anyone else.

To paraphrase Richard Osman on HIGNFY a few weeks ago, there's no reason Brexit can't be a success, you just need a government that knows what they're doing, who has a plan, to actually deliver and implement it properly. At the moment everyone is pulling in different directions because Brexit is something different to different people.

It's like when you do YouGov or IPSOS polling, there's usually a pretty substantial list of options asking what Brexit you think the government should adopt, and it requires a pretty decent grasp of what things like the customs union, single market, WTO, ECJ etc actually are.

I'm stunned the "how would you vote again" stuff is so close still. Sure you may want out like but now you have seen the gooseberry fool show of how that will be managed and sill you think "yup, lets do this"

It’s not just this government, pathetic, weak and useless as they are, the whole Brexit idea is flawed. Massively flawed.

What exactly is Brexit? Leaving the EU? Which means what exactly?

A hard Brexit with hard borders is guaranteed to be a disaster. It destroys our relationship with our biggest trading partners and rips up the Good Friday Agreement. And that’s without getting into more personal things like what happens to foreign people living here and UK people living abroad. It’s not possible to have a Hard Brexit while also letting Northern Ireland keep an open border (because everyone will want the same special treatment). It’s not possible to “pay nothing!” and also continue to trade as we do.

A soft Brexit could be achievable but would be pointless. A lot of the Leavers would feel betrayed and everyone else would wonder what the damn point was. If you are going to follow all the EU rules, why not just be in the EU and have a say over those rules?

There is no way even a competent government could do much with this, it is a flawed concept from start to finish.

Government was arguing against it earlier over some minor amendment technicality which they are free to change quite easily without any objection. They keep saying they don't want to breach the Good Friday Agreement and put a hard border in Ireland, but they refuse to put it in writing.

I disagree with that completely, there's a huge number of reasons which even a strong government would struggle to navigate successfully, and even if they did I just don't see how we could ever be in a stronger position than staying. It's just a bad idea from the start.

We're somehow incapable of doing the same, or maybe certain people just don't want to face the truth and make it public.

We're somehow incapable of doing the same, or maybe certain people just don't want to face the truth and make it public.

I saw the comments on a Telegraph article and everyone there seemed to be of the position that these studies are all wrong anyway and you can't predict the future. So this whole thing is an unimportant distraction.

I see this being dragged out to the point where the public no longer has an apatite for it, it's like watching a car crash in slow motion.

The problem is I don't think the government would recognise if public opinion has changed. I'm confident that a vote now would be majority remain but I don't see it happening.
