What is my problem? My problem is that because of a stupid mis informed referendum, the country is facing being worse off for quite a while, removed from the single largest trading bloc in the world and my son growing up in a country that deemed themselves too good for the EU.

Thats just part of it. If someone can provide me with any form of optimism or positivity ref brexit ill gladly apologise, until then, my opinion stands.

People's (personal) political opinions have to align with yours or they can get strawberry floated.

Finally Lucien gets it!

Imagine if that version of history had panned out.

At one point there was serious consideration of France and the UK becoming one country.

At one stage large chunks of both were one country.

Well yeah, but I think we were talking about in the last 100 years or so.

It also nearly happened in WW2. It was narrowly rejected by the french government in a vote.

You might end up not finding it funny at all depending on how things turn out. People hate uncertainty and currently the effect on borders between Ireland and the north is a major point of debate.

I don't think even I would find it that funny.

Going back to this for a second or two I think the general tone from Irish commentators when it comes to Brexit is exasperation at the attitudes of English, specifically English not British, brexiteers and Northern Irelands unionist brexiteers. Fintan O'Toole has written a lot of good stuff about brexit which I think nails the general mood better than most writers have managed.
Johnsons contribution at the weekend is the sort of guff that tends to irritate Irish commentators as it totally ignored the question of the Irish border which is the biggest issue for Ireland when it comes to Brexit. The complete lack of detail when it comes to the border a mere 18 months before the possible reintroduction of a hard border between the Republic and Northern Ireland has started to shift the tone from worry about the consequences of Brexit to more confrontational along the lines of "look you stupid bastards, we need detail about how you plan to handle the border issue and we need it now, quit waffling". That's being reflected in any conversations I have now about Brexit.
The nonsensical contributions from the likes of Jeffrey Donaldson are only accelerating the souring of relations.

This is the main reason why this whole thing is pissing me off. I've said it before, they knew the border was going to be an issue with a referendum like this, yet they still called one despite that and did no groundwork to figure out a solution. It should have never been called on this basis.

But hey, it has been now, I hope their solution is up to snuff and they don't try to shove it onto the EU again.

They should align with reality though.
Leavers opinions do not.

I voted Leave, do you think my opinions don't match reality?

If you still think leaving is a good idea then yes, your opinion does not match reality and is about in par with the opinion "The Earth is flat".

If you believe leaving the EU is a good idea then it is demonstrable fact that your opinion is incorrect and invalid.

I havent seen any legitimate reasons. Political otherwise. I've been told to get over it for a year, called a remoaner, amongst other things, all the time whilst having nothing provided to me to change my mind that leavers voted due to a message on a bus and immigrants. I have seen zero, and I mean zero legit financial reasons from anyone

So excuse me if I am a bit angry about our country probably being thrown off a cliff. If you can provide me with something to look forward to then ill absolutely apologies. Until then yeah, they can get strawberry floated.

If we do ever rejoin the EU, it will be hilarious to point at Farage and Boris as the ones that got us into Schengen and the Euro. :slol:

I wouldn't be so harsh. What I would say is that almost every major expert on the matter (not the media) believes Brexit will leave us worse off short and long term. The Vote Leave Campaigner has come out against the Government's Brexit. And the currency is getting worse.

It so happens my beliefs align with the experts, but I will always listen to experts on the other side of the issue. The best I can find suggest a rocky exit at best, a position the government have clearly moved to. The problem is that so few experts even suggest Brexit will work.

At this point it's obvious that any politician who is suggesting Brexit will be a huge success is fake news.

My views don't align with yours but based purely on the evidence we have, tell me I'm being unfair?

The EU is not perfect. No one is pretending it is. But the fantasy of being better off outside may sounds great, but have very little base in the economic reality.

I don't think you were wrong to feel the way you did, but you were misinformed to VOTE the way you did.
