"Northern Ireland will exit the EU on the same terms as the rest of the United Kingdom," she said in a statement ahead of a meeting with British Prime Minister Theresa May tomorrow morning.

"We will not countenance a border in the Irish Sea. I welcome the Prime Ministers commitment on this," she said.

She said: "Those in Dublin and Brussels, recklessly trying to use Northern Ireland for their own objectives, should cease.

"The Prime Minister should warn Brussels that Northern Ireland must not be used as blackmail."

DUP don't want a hard border with Ireland but still want Brexit against Northern Ireland's wishes, yet they don't want any kind of division introduced between Northern Ireland and Great Britain because Unionism, plus May has to listen to them because she needs their votes in Parliament, the Northern Ireland Assembly still isn't up and running, and after all this time we don't appear to be any closer to a solution to the border issue - what a mess - bring on the airships and drones!

The DUP demands are like walking into a café and demanding a skinny latte with full fat milk, then screaming at the barista as they fail to give you what you want.

From what I've read that's the DUP in a nut shell.

I honestly don't know who the strawberry float I'm meant to back in the next election.

The Tories are now eternally out.
Labour back Brexit
Lib Dems don't but say they will coalition with the Tories not with Labour.

Someone give me a strawberry floating choice. Not different shades of the same gooseberry fool.

He's essentially admitted that a bad deal is better than no deal.

But it looks like the Ireland border question is what's going to be the big point of contention now. UK won't discuss it until trade talks and the EU won't hold trade talks until the border issue is settled. That's a complete deadlock and I highly doubt the EU are going to blink first.

You've also got pretty much the same question in regards to Gibraltar and Spain, though Spain seem happy for that to be forgotten/ignored as long as possible since anything which hurts Gibraltar only works in their favour.

They don't fully understand the situation. So depressing.

Arlene Foster seems to be a lot press related stuff today. The amount of shite talking is impressive to behold.

You wouldn't think a crisis was looming from working in my office. Nobody seems to give a gooseberry fool, or are just ignorant of the whole situation and the consequences.

People don’t care. They are more concerned with trivial things like how many people were watching TV last night.

One of the worst things about the modern world is the political apathy of the masses. People just don’t care enough to look into things, they’d rather ignore it completely or just go along with whatever their newspaper of choice tells them to do.

So...

The EU want a hard border with the UK unless they stay in the SM/CU
The DUP will not accept any border between mainland UK and NI
The UK says it will not remain in the SM/CU*
Irish Gov. will not all talks to progress to trade unless it's guaranteed there's no borders
WTO rules means if we trade on them (no deal) there has to be a hard border.

The only "outcome" of all those options is no deal, hard border right?

(*technically it would, but it won't accept the other conditions of FoM and arbitration from other people. We're British for Christ Sakes! Who do those upstarts think they are?)

I think the only way this situation will improve is mass physical protest really, but that is only likely to occur after the event and once people are jobless and desperate, and I hate to think what authoritarian response that will draw from our then government.

I hope you all like third world nations, because you are nearly in one, or at least our most of our children will be.

It’s clear the main proponents of Brexit wanted a high libertarian capitalism model that will benefit existing wealth and self interest, and ensuring growing inequality and the erosion of universal social benefits and public services.

This was achieved in the traditional manner of exploiting ignorance and racism in a population beholden to media that happily re-enforced that view.

This along with the legacy of the Trump presidency will be the point at which history will record the final death twinges of the Anglo American period of global dominance on the 20th century.

Still it was fun while it lasted eh?

And any politician that speaks against all that gets trashed in the right wing press and ends up with death threats and cards like this:
