I understand you want Grimsby to suffer but Northern Ireland voted to remain.

So did lots of places, but you can't have part of a country in and part of a country out, it needs to be all or none.

Agreed, not sure why the DUP are trying to stop that.

So did Bristol. Why should we suffer when Northern Ireland doesn’t?

Grimsby, Cornwall and Wales can wither and die for all I care, but I don’t see why my city should suffer when another part of the UK doesn’t have to.

It’s unworkable to give Northern Ireland special treatment, if they get it, everyone should get it.

Sorry I meant the UK, we all need to be in the customs union, market etc. or all need to be out.

If NI is in but the rest isn't then all that will happen is gooseberry fool loads of companies will be based there and the rest of the UK gets strawberry floated.

Personally I think the whole UK should be in it as it is the best of a bunch of bad options as gooseberry fool canning it is unlikely, but I don't think it would be right that NI is left in while we all suffer. Either they leave the UK and become part of Ireland or they are out like the rest of us, or we are in with them.

DUP guy literally lying as blatantly as possible on Sky News right now.

"It's just political posturing from Dublin, they have to bend to the will of Sinn Fein"

He's talking complete nonsense.

How far do we go. You say Grimsby voted for brexit but parts of Grimsby didn't. So should should the parts of Grimsby that said stay be allowed to stay? Overall I think it has to be all in or all out. Sadly it's going to be all out.

I don't think you should take your anger out on other majority Remain areas. "If they can have it we should too" is absolutely fair, but "they shouldn't have it because I can't" is a form of the same selfish rhetoric that's behind the rise of far-right policies in the first place.

All the focus has been on what Ireland might veto, but I could see other European nations using a veto against a plan of just NI in the single market without the rest of the UK, it allows UK companies to set up tiny 1 man offices in NI and get free access to the single market despite being actually based in England/Scotland/Wales.

A hard border is simply not going to work in Northern Ireland (if anyone doesn't understand this they are either uninformed or dreaming) so someone is going to have to eventually make a decision and piss people off, or magically come up with a solution that somehow makes everyone happy. Any ideas?

Hoho merry Christmas EU, we got you the troublesome UK shattered into easily managed city states and constituent nations as a gift.

Yes they will all accept the euro, and free movement of people. Turns out just the crap bits wanted left behind!

Indeed, although this appears to be the plan for a lot of financial institutions setting up small offices in Europe at the moment but keeping most staff in London.

Yeah 2

Idea 1: Ireland becomes one country
Idea 2: We all stay in the customs union etc.

Idea 3: Brexit collapses.

Neither of those will make everyone happy though.

1. Unionists across the UK are raging.
2. Brexiteers are raging.

According to the DUP there’s no issue with the border it can be monitored electronically. :fp:
