For FFS sake Taf, don’t you realise that we are talking about a decent BRITISH lava sinkhole?

I know you would prefer it to be a French or German lava sinkhole, but that is a traitorous view, there is no better lava than British lava and our sinkholes are the envy of the world.

If it wasn’t for us saving them in 1945 then they would have all died in their German speaking sinkholes.

They owe us!

This is all great, but where was this swashbuckling Ed when he was party leader, he was nowhere to be seen; more interested in organising ill-advised Ed Stones, interviews with wankers like Russel Brand, and posing in one of his "two kitchens".

Same with Ed Balls. It's no good telling everyone about your ideas on the sofa of This Week, while prancing around on Strictly Come Dancing (which he's still doing, just during intermission).

It's always easier to backseat drive.

https://sluggerotoole.com/2017/12/04/how-brexit-is-destroying-nis-centre-ground-and-could-take-the-union-with-it/

That article sums up just where the DUPs current trajectory will land them. They are doing more for Sinn Féins dream of a United Ireland than Sinn Féin are with their current policies.

Funny how Arlene and the DUP want to leave on the same terms as the UK when it comes to brexit but can't be bothered to be on the same terms when it comes to abortion and gay marriage.

Davis setting up "full UK regulatory alignment" (which will piss of the Brexitteers) but without being subject to EU bodies and getting there thorough a different route (which the EU will love...)

It's still this nonsense cake and eat it approach

It feels (I am not saying it is, just that it feels) like we are simultaneously at the closest point to scrapping Brexit and the furthest away from scrapping Brexit.

The closest because it must be dawning on a lot of the Leavers that this is going to be a disaster.

The furthest because they are all too pig headed to admit it.

I have no idea any more what is likely to happen. Everything seems to be ruled out and ruled in at the same time.

The Irish border sums this all up nicely. What are the solutions that have been proposed (whether they be serious or insane)? Maybe drones patrolling, maybe no border at all, maybe Northern Ireland stays under EU rules, maybe Northern Ireland stays part of the UK regulations, maybe the North unifies with the South, maybe the South rejoins the UK, maybe we just align all our rules, maybe we build a wall, maybe we just use the water as a border, maybe maybe maybe.

Couldn’t we just ask the EU to change its name to “Union Europe” and then we could stay in while also telling the Leavers that we did leave the European Union.

What exactly was the point of giving the DUP a billion if they fail to back you at the very first hurdle?

That sort of re-branding seems to be exactly what Davis is trying to sell.

Look they're EU rules, set by the EU (which we're not part of) but we put them into our rules/laws by the new BRITISH BODY OF BRITISHNESS!

They haven't given them anything yet, as far as I am aware. The payment is only going to be paid when the executive gets up and running.

Or at least that's my understanding of the situation, correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes but it's agreed in writing I presume. They still can be held accountable.

I assume it must be and that's a fair enough point.

DUP are backing that now too. The whole point of the EU fudging it for NI was because of our unique situation here, as no-one sane wants to scrap the Good Friday Agreement plunging NI into chaos and introducing a hard border running through towns, houses etc. with several hundred border crossings along it.
