It’s recent in that it is now spilling out for the outside world to see, but a certain section of Britain has been like that for hundreds of years.

Its the old peoples sense of entitlement and nothing more and its going to die away, I just want it to die away in the most painless way possible. People who are like 'I want Boris Johnson as PM so he can go down with the government' are

Went for a drink with people from my French class last night, none of whom are British, and it was fascinating hearing their opinions on Brexit. They kept asking me what the positive side of Brexit was and, although I am rather biased, I had to tell them repeatedly that even thinking objectively I couldn't come up with any. They mainly found it a humorously ridiculous situation that only furthered the international view of the British of exceptionalist snobs.

As a counter, I certainly haven't encountered that viewpoint of the British being exceptionalist snobs/in a bubble.
That Brexit is stupid, yes, but not the above

I really wouldn't call the majority of people who voted for brexit as snobs either. Yes there certainly is a section that is elitist and that's on show in our leadership but not the ordinary people.

There was that video a few years ago (pre Brexit) from a German satirical show where they were talking about how the British always want “an extra sausage”. It was quite spot on when it comes to the British mentality towards Europe.
I haven’t ever come across Europeans who have said that they see the British as snobs or are in a bubble, but I think the attitude exists whether the rest of world sees it or not. There are a huge number of people in this country that think we are above the other countries or some sort of special nation. The Empire and the World Wars have fuelled that attitude (in my opinion), people see that Britain had an empire and won two world wars and then don’t realise that those days are long long long gone.

Maybe snob was the wrong word. It was that the UK sees itself as special and above all other European countries, even those who outclass is economically and influencially.

I know what you mean. I don’t feel apathetic as such, it’s more a complete feeling of powerlessness. Remain supporters have no voice in government at all at the moment, both the Conservatives and Labour are ploughing ahead with Brexit. A few MPs will rebel and speak out, but nowhere near enough to make me think this can all be overturned.
What’s especially frustrating is on top of that, we are also living with one of the most incompetent Parliaments of all time.
I think we're facing limbo for a very long time.
As much as I think they will struggle to overturn Brexit, its becoming increasingly unlikely they can enact it either. Watching the gammons go through the whole gammet of gammony emotions from pink to bacon to puce is providing me the most joy as they battle with the concept of common sense and reality.
At this point, I'm just sitting back and watching as the chaos unfolds. We are heading for a remain in the SM/CU style Brexit. Their hands are tied by the gooseberry fool, ill conceived idea of this entire thing.
I look forward to the resulting blame game.

Apologies if you took it like that but I meant the tabloids and the your government....and the fact that brexiteer politicians spouting absolute nonsense on the BBC are never challenged.

In a blistering report, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) accused the department of having made “virtually no attempt” to prioritise the work needed to enact Brexit and claimed ministers were “operating in a parallel universe where urgency is an abstract concept”.
MPs expressed “grave concerns” over what they said was the apparent complacency of the department, which is led by the business secretary, Greg Clark.
