Posting here is as legitimate a venue of debate as anywhere else. None of us are in a position to directly influence legislation, but who is? All we can do is talk about it as much as possible - here, on Facebook, at work, in the streets, on a petition - the important thing is that the opinion is alive and being expressed.

As a cathartic thing - yeah. Totally on board with that mate. Does it make you feel better though? If it does I'm genuinely happy for you. But I doubt it does.

And strawberry float off, Moggy - you know Boris wouldn't have to pin me down. I love that man.

You're right. We should all shut up, bottle it all up internally and just let our betters get on with ruling us. When did plebs talking and discussing things ever make a difference anyway?

Of course, but I forgot to mention that Boris is only doing it half heartedly as he doesn't really believe in doing it. But Corbyn is waiting in the background for Boris to finish so that he can pound away on his decades long desire to violate your buttocks.

This is a forum. People are allowed to discuss.

Belittling them for doing so is absolutely stupid.

During the referendum.

The extremely tight referendum where a third of the country didn't vote and 52% of those that did vote believed a huge cocktail of lies that have since either been exposed or will shortly be exposed?

I agree.

I'm not belittling moggy. At all. If it comes across that way I apologise. That is not my intent. I respect Moggy and his opinions and admire his passion - particularly in this and the politics thread.
I'm simply doubting whether he feels any better for venting his frustrations. That is all.

You don't need to white knight for Moggy, DML. He is more than capable of defending his opinions and actions. As he is amply demonstrating.

No need to apologise to me. I'm well aware that you are a callous Tory supporting psychopath. ;)

I think it's important beyond making you feel better. If all Remain voters kind of shrugged and went "ah well, such is life" then the issue's closed. But if every Remain voter becomes a whiny little bitch like me and Moggy ( ;) ) who complains about it at every opportunity then it could influence the political landscape. It won't stop Brexit but it could make the centrist wings of both major parties think "Crikey though, that's a lot of people who are mad with our leadership" and maybe that could have a knock on effect and slightly soften our policies? Do you think that's impossible?

EDIT: IMO it's the same with any piece of legislation -- we can't directly influence it from outside Parliament, but the more we all make a fuss the more likely we'll be represented. Posting on the internet isn't a hugely impactful act by itself but nothing happens in a bubble.

Well, let's not get drawn into opinions of each other again. I like debating with Moggy. It's pointless doing so with you.

Sure. I'm not trying to argue the toss by the way, just think it's important to get talking -- this is tangential but if I could have one politics related wish it might well be that average people should just engage critically and discuss more.
