Genuinely thought it was from Private Eye at first.

I've not watched the clip but it seems that guy must have read my tinfoil hat conspiracy in the thread and took it seriously.

Cheeky Devlin wrote:Tinfoil hat based speculation here....

Kill the former Russian spy, blame it on Moscow and use it as a pretence to cancel Brexit (Which she knows is lose/lose). Higher tensions with Russia (possibly leading to more serious events) put us in a position where "now is not the time" for Brexit. It allows her to appear strong and decisive, get's her out of the Brexit mess (Or very least punts it down the road a fair bit) and strengthens ties with our allies. The downside to this plan is potential nuclear annihilation though so that makes it unlikely (But still possibly preferable to Brexit).

I don't actually believe any of that by the way, but I enjoy thinking up alternative scenarios.

Taking back control of our borders apparently means just not enforcing them at all.

That's what Grayling said last night, the border at Dover will be "electronic".

We are sick of having an open border with the rest of Europe. Our solution is to open it to the entire world!

Ireland should leave the Single Market and Customs Union because that’s logical.

Mr Rees-Mogg, who is chairman of the influential European Research Group of Conservative backbenchers, hit out at the EU for suggesting Northern Ireland could stay in the customs union after Brexit to avoid border checks on goods coming from the Republic.

He said: "I think they’re the stick in the muds in this and have come up with a solution that is wholly impossible for the United Kingdom to accept, that we should take Northern Ireland out of the United Kingdom.

"Why don’t we suggest to them that the Republic of Ireland comes out of the single market and customs union and accepts our regulations? It’s an equally logical suggestion."

On warnings by some Remainers that a hard border in Ireland could result in a return of the Troubles, Mr Rees-Mogg said: "I think it’s a politically unappealing and cynical approach to suggest that violence may be a consequence of not doing what the pro-Europeans want, and they should think whether that is a wise approach to take.

"Once you start proposing that violence may be a consequence of something, you’re almost encouraging violence. So, people making that argument should think very carefully about the wisdom of that argument."

He's obviously being facetious. What he is saying is that he thinks it's as outrageous to suggest NI stays in the customs union as it is to suggest Rep of Ireland come out of the single market.

I'm not really surprised, he was the one who suggested sending a flag to France to show we normally beat them in wars.

It’s not though is it? The U.K. are the ones leaving the club, it’s reasonable that the U.K. then has to accept such changes.

Seeing as he is from the year 1818, yes I imagine he does think that.

It was also the Will of the People™ of NI to remain. UK should compromise.

That doesn’t count because there are more English (and Welsh) people and so their will of the people counts for more.

Also, Will of the People only applies to people who voted leave

Predictions then?

Lots of caving in waffle and smoke to disguise how bitter pill we're swallowing.

End date set by the EU

The UK will have to follow all the rules still. Some vague promise that UK will be "listened to", but won't have a say as now

Maybe allowed to talk trade deals with other countries? (But only to come into effect post transition?)
