There's an argument to say that people voted leave based on complete lies, which is absolutely true when you hear a lot of people's justifications being the bullshit that the Leave campaigns were spouting. You could argue that the responsibility lies with the people who distributed that misinformation.
But of course you can always turn it back to say that those voters had a responsibility to fact check and educate themselves rather than simply believing the stuff coming out of the Mail/Express and people like Johnson/Farage.
The worst part is that many prominent Leave campaigners openly admitted afterwards that they lied during the campaign and suffered utterly zero consequence for it.
