It'd be nice if they had "mucked up". I'm probably jaded but I'm guessing they were hoping for more of a "yeah you need us more than we need you" reaction from the general public.

Donald Tusk said that Europe don't want to punish the UK because Brexit is punishment enough, just show's the mindset of how he see's it as they begin talks. Basically, you're out of the free trade deal, tough town.

Spain could potentially veto a UK trade deal with the EU if it does not get a say over the future of Gibraltar.
Conservative MPs have warned the sovereignty of the UK overseas territory is non-negotiable.
Spain's potential veto was contained in a leaked draft document setting out the European Union's Brexit negotiating strategy.
It said no agreement on the EU's future relationship with the UK would apply to Gibraltar without the consent of Spain.
In response, Conservative MP Andrew Rosindell said there would be "no compromise" and fellow Tory Bob Neill tweeted "no sell out".

As it's not a 100% vote required it's not too big an issue, but probably another thing ignored by the public at large.

This is a great example of how different media's can spin these stories. My understanding is that this relates to a future trade deal with the EU after we have left and not in relation to the brexit deal. The DM http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4368644/Fury-Spain-handed-right-BLOCK-Gibraltar-Brexit-deal.html#comments have very conveniently reported it as Spain having the power to block the brexit deal, which is completely different to a future trade deal. Leading to a lot of angry people in the comments section, which of course is what the DM want as it creates traffic to their website, with people commenting repeatedly and sharing the story on social media etc.

I thought the EU were very onboard with the whole Right to self determination idea. Surely they shouldn't be siding with Spain on this at all.

They have always been funny with us over the Falkands as well. They've never batted an eyelid though over Ceuta and Melilla, which spain holds in Morocco.

The EU might be, that doesn't mean Spain is.

Any deal will require 72% of the EU to agree. If Spain wants to play hardball, it won't take many more countries to scupper any deal.

Yeah sorry I wasn't clear, I was talking about an exit deal or a possible extension to the Article 50 process.

The trade deal is strawberry floated if we so much as look at another European country in a way they don't like. I'm sure there's no way we'll stay in anything but great terms with 27 other countries during this process....

The 100,000 immigration target has been all but scrapped and won't be in the immigration bill according to senior Tories. Apparently they believe voters will be happy we now have full control of our borders instead. Amber Rudd apparently realises a cap could limit the "brightest and best" from coming to the UK.

Don't know why they insisted on the farce of running with the claim for as long as they have.

Bet immigration now goes UP.
