There is a nasty strain of glee exhibited by some people in pointing out the plight that's going to befall those who may have voted for Brexit/the Tories, and so on. Whilst it might feel really fun, in this era of polarised and divisive politics, to point and laugh at the opposing side's voters when they don't get the dream land they were sold, these are the same people that those on the remain side, or the left, need in order to start winning elections again.
I'm not happy that people in Cornwall are going to be worse off because of Brexit after they voted for it, and nor should anyone else be. Regardless of whether these people should have known better at the time, they're realising now just how harmful a Britain out of the EU, and they can either be brought into the fold, and become a voice to arrest or at least soften Brexit, or they can be driven further into the myths of the right, that they're only worse off because the EU is punishing them, by the mockery of those who voted differently.
It wasn't a dream they were sold.
It's a lie they, in many cases gleefully and proudly, wallowed in despite one of the biggest information campaigns in history.
They're going to cause massive suffering to some many areas of society across the country in so many different ways.
strawberry float em. I hope they suffer. They actually
deserve it (unlike their victims) - because they chose it. Not in ignorance - but in willful belligerent obtuseness.
And a "voice to arrest". Right. So Cornwall etc are all campaigning for change in Brexit process right? Oh Nope. The tone of the message is just "we shouldn't have to deal with consequences of our actions - give us more money. Bail us out of our poor choices...someone else somehow can pick up the bill"
If they want to change sides they can. They're still welcome to. But the approach needs to be from them "We strawberry floated up, please forgive us", not a infantilisation from us of "There, there. It's not your fault you made a willful terrible choice despite all attempts to help you"
