I of course don't want real individuals and families to be impoverished under any circumstances... but I do hope this teaches them a lesson about the Tories' priorities, and perhaps dispels some of their deep ignorance about the EU (alas too late).

That's one of the biggest problems we have at the moment. The opposition has absolutely no bite and are unlikely to change before 2020. And after that will probably not have enough MPs to really do anything.

Vote Green. 8-)

I'd rather vote for myself and I know I'd be useless.

Not really, I just don't like the Green Party.

It's either Thangam again for me or I'll flip back to the Lib Dems.

It's OK; Caroline Lucas is back at the helm now.

I didn't know that, she's decent. They might have had a better showing in 2015 if she had been leader.

At the next GE I'll look at what they have to say, but I doubt I'll be voting for them.

There is a nasty strain of glee exhibited by some people in pointing out the plight that's going to befall those who may have voted for Brexit/the Tories, and so on. Whilst it might feel really fun, in this era of polarised and divisive politics, to point and laugh at the opposing side's voters when they don't get the dream land they were sold, these are the same people that those on the remain side, or the left, need in order to start winning elections again.

I'm not happy that people in Cornwall are going to be worse off because of Brexit after they voted for it, and nor should anyone else be. Regardless of whether these people should have known better at the time, they're realising now just how harmful a Britain out of the EU, and they can either be brought into the fold, and become a voice to arrest or at least soften Brexit, or they can be driven further into the myths of the right, that they're only worse off because the EU is punishing them, by the mockery of those who voted differently.

It wasn't a dream they were sold. :slol:

It's a lie they, in many cases gleefully and proudly, wallowed in despite one of the biggest information campaigns in history.

They're going to cause massive suffering to some many areas of society across the country in so many different ways.

strawberry float em. I hope they suffer. They actually deserve it (unlike their victims) - because they chose it. Not in ignorance - but in willful belligerent obtuseness.

And a "voice to arrest". Right. So Cornwall etc are all campaigning for change in Brexit process right? Oh Nope. The tone of the message is just "we shouldn't have to deal with consequences of our actions - give us more money. Bail us out of our poor choices...someone else somehow can pick up the bill"

If they want to change sides they can. They're still welcome to. But the approach needs to be from them "We strawberry floated up, please forgive us", not a infantilisation from us of "There, there. It's not your fault you made a willful terrible choice despite all attempts to help you"

In the end in changes nothing.

It certainly won't help their victims - but the schadenfreude from this type of twazocks getting their self-inflict just desserts is wonderful.

I fully agree that it is not a nice thing to hope that people end up poorer. It is not nice to point and say “I told you so”. It is not nice to mock people for their stupidity.

Of course none of those things are nice.

But it is not nice to be told that you are being forced out of a union you believe in because idiots fell for Farage’s lies. It is not nice to get abuse about being a “traitor” because you dare tell people why they are making a mistake. It is not nice to see people being deported and threatened with deportation because the government is pandering to Breitbart. It is not nice to see racist/xenophobic graffiti or hear of people being physically and verbally abused because of where they come from.

A bit of schadenfreude and laughing on an internet form at idiots in Cornwall who want to have their cake and eat it, in no way compares to the above.

It’s a horrible horrible thing but we really need Brexit and Trump to really really hurt the idiots that supported them. Because the alternative is that the idiots think that they did a good thing and that they continue to vote for fuckwits and fuckwitted policies. I would much rather nobody ended up getting hurt but these arseholes brought it on themselves and the little crumb of comfort I have is that this will probably end up hurting them more than me.

There hasn't been any good news about the effects of Brexit. None. Nada. Nix. So that picture can strawberry float off.

I don't think anybody has said that bad news will be good news.

What we have done is laugh at Cornwall for voting out of the EU but then expecting to get the same money as they do now.

I guess though that they could ask Boris for some of that £350m a week that he has earmarked for the NHS. After all, we will be swimming in cash once we are out of the EU, right?

With all the horror stories we are hearing at the moment from the right wing press (Le Pen, Wilders, Germany turning back into Nazis, the EU about to collapse etc etc) that is encouraging stuff. There is still hope that the people of Europe can avoid our mistakes and actually work together.
