We're being offered an out and that strawberry floating bitch won't take it.

She can't just take it there and then though can she? Imagine if she just stood there and went "yeah, alright". Riots.

I'd take riots over a long term depression.

It would be the first intelligent move of her political career.

Good. Doing otherwise would be economic suicide.

Everything I've seen of the guy is extremely positive. Can you imagine if he lost?

If he had then France might be looking down the same abyss as we are at the moment. Le Pen would have dragged France into negativity and despair, whereas Macron has given them hope. I just hope that he can continue as he has started and doesn’t end up a Blair type figure that promised so much and delivered so little.

I do wonder whether there was a certain element in the Tory Brexit ranks that was banking on a Le Pen victory to push the narrative that the EU was collapsing.

Apparently, and who knows how true it is, the guy is a bit of an Anglophile and admirer of Tony Blair...

Doomed, etc.

As long as he is not an admirer of Tony Blair's crusades then it might turn out ok.

There were a hell of a lot of Brexit supporters online that were expecting and hoping for Wilders and Le Pen victories to collapse the EU. I'd imagine the Tory party had plenty of those types in their ranks.

It's such a childish mentality. We don't want to be at the party so nobody else can either

I think it’s more them trying to convince themselves that they have done the right thing.

“No, we were right, look everyone else wants out as well!”.

“It’s all corrupt and will collapse soon so we are getting out at the right time!”

“They will all realise that it is unfair and unsustainable and they will want to leave when they see how good we have it!”

“We are going to have trade deals with everyone else except them and they will soon see just how much they need us!”

Idiots.

I think a lot of the huge supporters of this have just bought into scapegoating which has been prevalent in politics for years.

I've touched on this before, but the idea that the EU is the big bad causing all their problems has been put into their heads, when it is not really the case.

But as you blokes say as well, I get the feeling as well that a lot of people are trying to justify their vote currently, and disregarding things unfairly (currency tanking, EU nurse numbers).

oh definitely. Leaving the EU isn't going to change anything (all of the problems cited are because of Tony Blair, The Conservatives and big corporations - which is why they couldn't argue the case for staying in the EU as it'd show them up for the banana splits they are)

The latest argument I am seeing from fanatical Leavers is that the general election means that over 80% of the UK population now supports Brexit. Their argument is that as the Conservatives and Labour both got over 40% each, people must be in support of their Brexit policy which means that 80% now want to leave.

:slol:
