I think what he means is that it will be a snap referendum in the same way nobody expected the GE until the morning it was announced. So you won't get an announcement that the final deal will need ratifying by the voters, but that the PM will just announce a fresh referendum with the minimum campaign time available.

I was suprised Rees-Moggy understood my post differently!

There has already been talk of a second referendum to ratify the deal. It would be funny if we had one, decided to stay in the EU and then the EU refused to allow us.

I believe as long as it's in the next two years then they can't stop us from changing our minds. what happens if we change our minds whilst under some sort of interim period that is being talked about then I don't know. I assume we would need the permission to stay in.

The EU have announced that BREXIT can't be unilaterally reversed.
It would take all member countries to agree to put an end to BREXIT and they would want us to make concessions.

The EU seem to be making an assumption here, one that could likely be challenged in the EU courts. Article 50 doesn't say one way or another so the EU saying this has no real legal basis.

That's a factsheet from the EU, that's not the law or regulations.

Article 50 doesn't mention what happens if a country trigger it but then want to take it back. The writer of Article 50 says a country can revoke it by themselves.

If the UK wanted to cancel it then it's going to come down to the UK wanting the same deal as it currently has. If the EU (or individual EU states) don't want that then it'd end up in court. I suspect the UK would win as nothing in the treaties say that it can't be revoked unilaterally.

You might be right, but the EU seems to be using that document as it's guidelines so it would end up in court and there is a chance the UK would lose.

The document literally doesn't mention it.

The UK might lose but I doubt it.

Sorry, I was getting confused between the two!

Article 50 is the treaty that states the rules for a state wanting to leave. It says nothing about a country being able to or not being able to unilaterally revoke it. I think that works in the UKs favour if we decided to cancel our resignation within the 2 year period.

The EU document isn't a legal document that has been certified and so it's more of their internal guideline rather than being what would happen.

If the UK changed its mind within the 2 years (I don't think the government will though!) then I'd imagine the EU would wave it through. If not, I think the UK would have a winning case in court.

Brexit supporting James Dyson urges the government not to cut farm subsidies as it will leave UK farmers at a disadvantage.

Farmers will be at a competitive disadvantage against their European counterparts if the government cuts subsidies after the UK leaves the EU, billionaire Brexit backer James Dyson warns.

In an interview with The Spectator, Sir James raised concerns about Defra secretary Michael Gove’s vision for a “green Brexit”, which would see direct payments slashed and farmers having to “earn their subsidies” only if they deliver benefits for the environment.

“You’ll be putting British farmers at a disadvantage against European farmers,” he said.

It's nice he's thinking of the farmers now. After all it's not like his business benefits from subsidies is it.

Good luck with that.

Have to wonder how they expect to compete with US farming if they think they're going to struggle against the EU.
