Surly even if you support the brexit idea you can see that with this gooseberry fool show in charge it can only be a total and complete disaster and thus shouldn't happen.

Grimsby boasted the biggest fishing fleet in the world in the middle of the last century, but that all went after the Cod Wars and the town has struggled since. It was one of the biggest supporters of Brexit, with a 70% vote for leave last June.

Seafood should be given special free trade status after Brexit to ensure Grimsby’s industry is not damaged, MPs have been told.

Key figures from the wider Lincolnshire food industry were in Westminster last week to provide the Government with their vision for meeting the challenges presented by the UK leaving the European Union.

Grimsby’s seafood processing industry faces a number of Brexit-related issues – from a potential 20 per cent labour shortfall to delays in fresh fish reaching the town’s factories, as well as import fees.

The industry and its big name producers, such as Young’s and Icelandic Seachill, imports 90 per cent of the fish it processes for retailers, restaurants and fish and chip shops.

Therein lies the issue.

All these industrial towns which have lost their industry through whatever reasoning have felt that the EU is solely to blame (there's nothing to say they aren't part of the problems) for their losses. Problem is now in order to get back to even the level they are currently operating at we are going to have to bend over backwards to ensure that we don't miss out.

Obvious that a lot of voters didn't see, or weren't told, about the bigger picture. The dawning realisation that actually things weren't really THAT bad.

Although of course there is some sympathy towards this side of things, unlike Cornwall the day of the result telling the Government to cover all their EU subsidies as they suddenly realised they'd lose them

It’s not just that they didn’t see or weren’t told, they were also lied to. Grimsby has suffered over the years due to the fishing trade being under pressure and they willingly went along with fools like Boris and liars like Farage. And 70% of them didn’t bother to check if they were being lied to, they just decided that that nice Mr Farage wouldn’t lie! He smokes and enjoys a pint! He wouldn’t lie to us! Remain people are just part of Project Fear, we will be fine after leaving!

Those fools who refused to listen to “project fear” are likely to get what they deserve over the next few years. And I bet that when it all goes wrong, they will continue to believe the lies of the arseholes that sold them snake oil and instead of blaming themselves, they will blame the EU, Remainers and the liberals who tried to warn them.

Although of course there is some sympathy towards this side of things, unlike Cornwall the day of the result telling the Government to cover all their EU subsidies as they suddenly realised they'd lose them

I have zero sympathy for any Leave voter that ends up worse off because of Brexit. 70% of Grimsby can burn for all I care.

I had to skip a few lines to get to the chorus as I couldn’t be arsed trying to amend “black fly in your chardonnay” to Brexit. ;)

Brexiters must honour extra cash pledge for NHS, says health chief
Simon Stevens to cite leave campaign’s claim of £350m more a week for health service in conference speech

Speaking at the NHS Providers conference in Birmingham, Stevens is expected to say: “The NHS wasn’t on the ballot paper, but it was on the battlebus. Vote Leave for a better funded health service – £350m a week.”

He will quote analysis by the Vote Leave campaign director, Dominic Cummings, that Britain would have voted to remain in the EU without the pledge, adding: “Rather than our criticising these clear Brexit funding commitments to NHS patients – promises entered into by cabinet ministers and by MPs – the public want to see them honoured.

“By the end of the NHS’s next financial year – March 2019 – the United Kingdom will have left the European Union. Trust in democratic politics will not be strengthened if anyone now tries to argue: ‘You voted Brexit, partly for a better funded health service. But precisely because of Brexit, you now can’t have one.’

“A modern NHS is itself part of the practical answer to the deep social concerns that gave rise to Brexit. At a time of national division, an NHS that brings us together. An institution that tops the list of what people say makes them proudest to be British. Ahead of the army, the monarchy or the BBC. Unifying young and old, town and country, the struggling and the better off.”

Stevens’ speech will immediately follow a keynote address from the health secretary, Jeremy Hunt, and comes as leading health thinktanks warn that NHS funding will be at one of the lowest rates in its history next year.

The Health Foundation, the King’s Fund and the Nuffield Trust calculated that the NHS needs £4bn more next year to prevent patient care from deteriorating following a joint analysis of NHS finances in England.

I see the sharks have smelled the blood then. Not that the NHS is a shark at all, but they must really think the government is super weak to be making such bold demands.

Nurse shark maybe. But yes, overtly political statements like that only come if the system thinks that either the government is so weak it will cave, or funding is so far from demand the constituent health bodies know they can't cope. This time I think you are seeing both.

Fun times ahead. Stay healthy everyone. No really, STAY HEALTHY.
