I think ive finally realized what is really putting me off the combat. I'm at ch 12 now, and I still only have a choice of pistol or shotgun (and crossbow too obvs), but theres no mid range assault rifle like the sub machine gun from TEW1. So I'm still trying to mostly take out these fast moving enemies with a shitty pistol, and saving shotgun rounds for larger enemies. This would be a lot more enjoyable if it had a full auto weapon so I'm not constantly struggling to line up headshots.

As much as it pains me to say it, as a TEW fanboy, but the combat in the game is just... bad. Of all the things they could have got wrong I really didn't think combat would be one of them, but they really did make an ass of it. And there really hasn't been any big, memorable shoot out moments either. Even the cabin defense bit was relatively weak.

TEW2 is definitely a good game, but the more I play it, the more it just makes me wish I was playing TEW1

Got the shotty. Aiming still a bit off. But id expect it. The exploring is great. You could easily charge straight for the main objective. But theres so much stuff youd midd if you didnt explore. Reminds a bit of state of decay. Looting houses and discovering gooseberry fool.

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

I'm up to chapter 12 or 13 I think roughly around 8-9 hours playtime. Personally I think it's better than the first game but I have been playing it on dirty casual as I'm trying to just speed my way through it and Shadow Of War before Mario Odyssey arrives.

Also used a trainee to give myself lots of components and weapon parts :shifty:

Couldn't agree more. There's a slightly faster pace to combat here that makes it feel messier. It could get frantic in the first game, but you could also be careful and methodical – backing off, lining up shots, setting traps when you had the room etc. It just doesn't feel as good here.

There's something seriously wrong with the aiming in this game. I havent tried it on a mouse but on a pad its terrible. And to make matters worse, the enemies have a brief iframe after you shoot them which really strawberry floats things up. The original game had so many moments of excellent combat, from Chapter 3's village with the Sadist boss, to the Chapter 6 massive combat bowl in the ruined castle area with the 2 machine gunners on the far platforms, but my god TEW2 just loves the smell of its own farts so much it seems to think we actually want damn near 40 minute segments of slow walking, listening to dialogue, and cutscenes (the end of Chapter 12). Like who decided to put so much bad story into a sequel to one of the best 3rd person shooters in recent times? It honestly just makes me angry to the point where i just stopped playing last night because in my entire play session i had done nothing but maybe kill 3 enemies, and watch bad custscenes with bad acting for almost the entire session. Then when i finally did get to play, i had to contend with hyper fast Usain Bolt zombies while trying to headshot them with a pistol whose idea of aiming is "put a bullet somewhere in the same zip code as the enemies head".

There has been some great moments in this game, first time you meet the guardian was amazing, exploring Union, the slime monster (who so far turned up once for about 2 minutes and hasnt been seen since, if it isnt used again by the end of the game that's just a criminal waste of an amazing looking monster) and Stefano and his art have all been great. Its jsut a shame the actual gameplay its all bolted on to has been so sub par.

Chapter 4 now. Its strawberry floating difficult. The upgraded enemies. :x Especially those quick moving banana splits.

Love the shotgun mind.

Finished, watching the credits now. Preferred it to the first game and really enjoyed it even though I wanted to rush through it as a cheating bastard before getting Mario during the next week. Even enjoyed the story, go figure.

Look forward to the 3rd game now after the end credits scene :toot:

The game felt underwhelming to me. Ammo-starving the player on higher difficulty is not my idea of challenging gameplay, but maybe that's just me.

Chapter 9. I have a glitch. After the eall of fire where i go for lily. I fall through the floor and cannot do anything. Is this fixable or do i have to go back to my last save?

It had its moments, the singing ghosts were creepy, the guardian was pretty strawberry floated up too, but nothing hit the heights of "OH MY strawberry floating CHRIST WHAT IS THAT" that Laura or The Keeper did.

:slol: That's an excellent way to describe it - the first was genuinely shocking or proper edge of your seat stuff, then it became a shameless resi 4 clone near the end which is totally ok with me. This one, whilst not really scary, is an excellent amalgamation of some of my favourite recent games, and has made running around quite fun. As an aged gamer i tend to have minimal patience for running around especially for non primary objectives, but this is great fun.

I also noticed something else, in the first game each chapter had a distinct and iirc a REALLY hard boss. This one is really chilled with bosses (i haven't finished it yet).

In the end i appreciate it, the first game was vanilla ice cream, this is strawberry flavour.
