I have truly atrocious eyesight. For anything written in a normal font (like a book or a newspaper) it needs to be about four inches from my face before it comes into focus. I'm basically blind, lol

I think I'm something like -1.75 in one and -1.5 in the other with astigmatism too though can't remember the severity of that. Pretty much wear my specs all the time as it irritates me not seeing in HD :D

Only needed specs after working my desk job for 3 years but I think it's a coincidence as I was a TV shut in even as a kid. Still remember when I tried my friends specs on and could suddenly see better, I just thought I had sleep or something in my eye for the longest time before that as they got worse so gradually lol.

I'm slightly astigmatic but not long- or short-sighted. I recently got glasses to make small text appear sharper, to reduce eye-strain.

I think need an eye test. I put it off as I'm convinced I will need glasses now. I've never had an issue before but I think things are going a bit squiffy now.

Deteriorating vision thanks to my office job. Beyond a few feet, things get a bit blurry.

Never had an eye test as my eyes have always seemed pretty spot on but I'm beginning to think it would be a good idea to look in to getting tested.

I work in IT so most days I'm in front of a screen all day, can't say it's had a noticeable effect.

I am short sighted -3.50. I wear contacts basically every day bar Sundays. Really have no issue with lenses so no intention of having laser eye surgery.

I made this thread 9 years ago about having laser eye surgery ( has it been that long!)

t:glasses-contact-lenses-and-laser-vision?f=7&hilit=laser+eye+surgery

Would recommend!

Had an eye test last week, I still have better than 20:20 distance vision.

I do have a mild prescription for close up/reading but not needed yet. But that's more to do with being an old fart than laser surgery.

Also, turns out I have something I never heard of before - Blepheritis - which apparently means you get dry eyes. I hadn't really noticed until now but I'm quite enjoying the treatment - 10 mins twice a day with a hot eye mask, then just clean eyes thoroughly with some special lotion. Feels good, man. I can't help thinking I got mugged at the opticians, though - I'm sure I was fine before!

It won't ever fully heal, but at least it's manageable.

I need to buy more glasses so I can walk around in HD vision. I only have one pair, I've either lost my other ones or destroyed them by being a bit thick.

Short sighted here.

Mmm. I've got Blepheritis and that's not my treatment. All I've got is some wipes for the morning and drops for hydration through the day. I'm due at the Opthamologists at the hospital next month. I shall ask about this pampering, sorry treatment.

Oh and I've got an infection I've probably picked up gardening. And my eyes are under pressure from the back as I've got an overactive thyroid. Apart from that my eyes are perfect......

I got one of these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/OPTASE-Moist-H ... B01N43NOYP

25 secs in the in microwave, 10 mins lie down. Lovely.

Note: Do not buy one in the opticians. I paid double that, the little buggers. :x

Also, picked up this, which I used after my laser surgery:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Blink-Intensiv ... dpSrc=srch

Gives hours of comfort.

I remember that thread, 9 years? 9 YEARS??? :dread:

I am quite phobic about things being near my eyes so I would never consider it, but I am glad it worked out for you.

Thank you Lime. Really useful. I'll ask about the masks. I'm using Systane Balance for hydration at the moment. That was what my optician advised but I think I'll give Blink Intensive a go. Cheers!

I'm saddened that my most popular thread was nearly a decade ago. :(

Try them, but your drops look like a premium brand and if they were recommended then you might get moaned at if you change from them.

The Blink drops totally do the trick for me, though.

I've had huge problems with my eyes and at one point had to have surgery as I was pretty much unable to go outside in sunlight without a migraine or at worst blacking out.
I also had pretty severe double vision at times and it was kind of amazing just how much the doctor at the hospital could mess with my head and just start huge optical effects with the tests she used. The most eye opening for me was a simple penlight test where she went to the other side of the room and I could see one light on the floor and the other above her head and I didn't even notice the second light until she pointed it out (she was holding just 1 pen but I'd grown so used to the double vision I was somehow just ignoring one) and then it all made perfect sense.

I have to give the hospital credit they were wonderful and did a fantastic job and I can now go out in sunlight and mostly not be affected which for me is huge as even my 20 minute walk to work was becoming almost more than I could handle even though I was popping painkillers like smarties.

I had to get one for my drivers license I think and my vision was perfect then but I have noticed my right eye is a little less harp these days. Left is still pretty much perfect from what I can tell.
