Honda failed him again though i do reckon he will move to Indycar in the next few years he has made his mark in the US now & i bet he has enjoyed his time in the USA racing scene more then how F1 is run.

He was the fastest man on track though, you just know he'll be back.

If Chilton wins this.

That's the problem with Indy, sometimes it is a lottery and a Max Chilton wins it!

I was excited while watching those cars were doing 230 miles an hour. Overtaking and racing side by side at high speed. It's incredible and very adrenaline!

F1 is so boring.

Shame about Alonso and I thought he was brilliantly until that Honda engine did let him down!

Do we know that actually happened? Ricardo did the same thing to Verstapen and Botas (I.e. passed in the pit stop), I doubt they were asked to let him through.

Hasn't Botas had to let Hamilton pass twice this season?

Yes he has at least once. I said the same thing then as well. Raikkonen could easily out qualify vettel in most remaining races. It's always a bit risky to start with team orders early in the season. Sometimes the believed number one driver isn't always the right choice.

I don't think we should assume that in this race the pass between Vettel and Raikonnen was engineered. Maybe Vettel simply put in faster laps when needed.

There were two factors which gave Vettel the win:

1. Kimi was held up by traffic on his out lap.
2. Vettel's strategy was just superior, as evidenced by Ricciardo coming ahead of Bottas and Verstappen despite being clearly slower than those two.

Alonso also stepped out of his car earlier than he wanted — with 20 laps remaining. He was fighting in seventh place and for a highly possible victory when his machinery gave up on him on a day that saw 15 leaders, 35 changes of lead and 853 overtakes.

853 overtakes.

Not only this, he was the fastest man today and his speed average was higher than anybody else. I think if he got the best car in Formula One or Indy 500. He will win a lot and his talent is just awesome.

If jamcc thinks this wasn't engineered we have to accept this without further question.

Yes?

Do you watch Indycar regularly Bor? Most oval races are as good as that, it's well worth becoming a regular viewing if you haven't already. Granted the Indy 500 is higher stakes but they don't seem to try any less hard at other circuits.

I'm going to make a concerted effort to continue watching the rest of the season.

Dixon's crash was insane and I can't believe he escaped without injury. Just incredible.

Yeah I agree that the Indy500 was better than the GP. There's only really been one good F1 race this season, and it sure as hell wasn't Monaco. I've got back into watching WRC lately and could pretty happily watch that and IndyCar and get my racing fix through those. They really need to do something in F1 to mix it up.
