Hopefully sorting out the distribution of money to the teams in a better/fairer way.

Maybe they can change the rules enough so that Ferrari can win a race in the next 5 years.
Give them twin turbo's maybe?

People need to make their minds up. During the Schumacher era at Ferrari, people complained they won too much. Now they win too little.

They don't just win too little, they don't win at all though. 5 wins in the last 4 years from the team is laughable.

It is the taking part that counts.

Ross Brawn in for Bernie Ecclestone? Transfer of the century. I'm not fussed on the 2017 reg changes and fully expect another lob-sided, one-team dominant series for the next x years. But when the Brawn reg changes are implemented for the next era (probably 2020) to go with the normalised prize money payments, this series will bound into life again.

Except all the fun drivers will have retired by then.

I wouldn't worry too much about that. There's so much focus on the sport now, despite how gooseberry fool it's been, that there will be no shortage of faster, more daring, more exciting drivers coming through. I saw that documentary about the kids who do karting, and their obsessive/competitive dads. It's a conveyor belt now, and that's just in the UK.

I wonder if they will decide to roll back some of the restrictions on things like ground effects or active suspension.
I'm pretty sure they could make the cars way faster now as both of those have been banned for at least a decade so what they could achieve these days with the new computer modelling could be amazing.

They could go so fast that drivers couldn't actually take the forces, but the main issue is when they have an accident the speeds are so great that the chance of a fatality is massively increased. Senna's crash happened because his car was being loaded up with so much down force that it bottomed out in the middle of a corner and it threw him off the track. Think that but double the speed.

While I agree safety has to be maintained that aspect has also improved massively over the last few decades and we've seen drivers walk away from some pretty amazing crashes. I'm not asking for cars that can pull 12g turns but surely allowing active suspension or ground effects can be done in a way to improve the speed while still having safe cars.
Maybe they could have all teams chip into a central development pot just for a base for those things and then the teams can use minor tweaks to it so we have variation.

Also, the more advanced these things are, the worse the racing gets.

Faster cars definitely does not equal closer racing, see the early 2000s.

Some odd choices have been made in F1 over the past few years but I maintain it is not that bad. The racing is better than it was 15 years ago, so they've got some things right.

The reason I ask is that part of the allure of F1 is that they're supposed to be showcases for what can be done with a car so allowing some of the recently banned stuff could help bring some fans back.

Gutted for the Manor personnel. I'd grown quite fond of the team over the years and things were genuinely looking up after the increase in performance last year.

Ross Brawn and the new owners have talked about wanting to bring in a budget cap and sort out a more fair distribution of prize money. Just hope something actually comes of it this time before another smaller team dies on its arse.

2017 Williams F1 car revealed

Can't wait to see the new cars properly unveiled rather than renders.

The bottom of the side pod looks really fat and odd.

Otherwise quite like it.
