It apparently set a lap time of 58 seconds in damp conditions at Fiorano. 55.999 seconds is the current record in the F2004 with Schumi behind the wheel.

Given that this is right at the start of the new rules and the cars will only get quicker I can see that time being smashed quite quickly. The real question is how much will they be able to beat that time by over the next few years.

I think the testing restriction makes that very difficult to be honest. I don't think Ferrari are allowed to test the car at Fiorano anymore outside of the official test days.

Interesting nose on the Red Bull.

Meanwhile the Toro Rosso nose seems somewhat similar to the Mercedes of recent seasons. Love the red, blue and silver.

Gonna try a pre-testing constructor prediction based off of the car launches:

RB
Mercedes
Ferrari
McLaren
Toro Rosso
Renault
Williams
Force India
Haas
Sauber

I reckon the Merc will be fastest but not by enough to overcome the Red Bull driver pairing so whilst a LH Merc season would be my bet, they may not take constructors.

I originally had Renault 4th as I reckon they'll have improved massively but driverwise will probably drop them behind McL and Toro Rosso.

Not feeling the other four cars at all. Williams leading FI is more of a heart over head call.

I know I do not watch much of F1 lately, but what would make things interesting if McLaren Honda and Alonso could turn things up! A long overdue for Alonso, he's capable of winning with his driving skills and experienced. He should have win some more with his talent.

Whether you like it or not, it's a clever move: sponsors need those cars to be easy to spot, even when they're at the back of the grid.

Or on the back of a recovery truck. They also need to actually have some sponsors first too.

Will be interesting to see what happens when they start going for lap times. Can't read anything out of today except the standard test day 1 unreliability!

Based on testing so far, it seems like you've got Red Bull and McLaren too high up.. Testing has been really positive for Ferrari so far.

Was just thinking, with the wider and larger cars, could we have zero overtaking at Monaco this year? :fp:

Hamilton said exactly that the other day, he said that the GP needs to stay but they need to look at doing something different with it, like a sprint race etc.

Not sure how that would improve things though?

I wasn't really offering any solutions just saying that the race is so iconic that it has to stay but something needs to be done to make it interesting and it may have to be a one off only for Monaco.

Yes, seem to be almost matching Mercedes even though they are on a slower tyre....

Yes?
