Yep, it was brilliant. I wish they'd force a bigger gap.between the two mandatory compounds. So one set of ultra soft available fresh for race day and as many ultra hard as they need, so for at least one stint you'd have cars doing banzai lap times and being able to make some great overtaking moves.

I used to enjoy the first race of the season where limited testing prior to the first race could mean that just by finishing could give you a shot at the points.

I will say what I said aloud the moment this happened: Vettel did it on purpose, he decided to bin his car so it was damaged and couldn't be weighed, as it was underweight for the race.

/conspiracy

Or maybe he wanted a free gearbox.

It’s from the drivers briefing. Full video is on YouTube from the official F1 account. Can’t remember the context!

Grosjean complains of cars cutting Turn 1 at the start, fingers Perez who admits is (as Charlie already made excuses for it). Massa then says he overtook Bottas doing it, citing Bottas just telling him and Charlie says it wasn't raised at the time. Then you see Perez pull that face.

Edit: Watch the video through, Perez bricks it and goes and speaks to teacher after the briefing

If the footage wasn't available to the stewards then they should have waited for it to be available. How does he always get away with these things.

Also what annoys me about Vettel is how he just ignores the reporters questions and answers the question he wanted to be asked. He's approaching politician levels of arrogance.

Told that the new footage had come to light at Suzuka by Sky F1, a relieved Stroll added: "I'm definitely not taking the blame for it."

But Vettel responded: "I don't think he looked in his mirrors, he wasn't aware. He said he was just picking up rubber but picking up rubber doesn't justify changing direction and driving into someone."

He's told about the new footage and still says that it was stroll who drove into him.

Jenson Button is contemplating a full-time return to racing in 2018 after feeling he stayed a year too long in Formula 1, and has named the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship as a possible destination.

Someone faster than someone else in a different car with different technology? Shocking. I think quite a few of the cars have beaten the previous lap record and unsurprisingly, someone with the fastest car heads them.

Thats it boys. All racing rendered redundant.

New technology means faster cars and some cars being faster than others renders all records moot.

Racing isn't redundant, just the comparison with old records. If cars and regulations allow for faster cars, clearly the bar will just be pushed higher.

Therefore all records are pointless and worth nothing.

Porsche just lapped the Nurburgring in 6:47 or something, that actually means nothing, because the last Porsche lap record was in an older car with old technology.

Bottas is in nominally the same car, yet he didnt manage the same record time. Odd.

But the gap between Bottas and Hamilton was not 1.7 seconds, just 0.3. So that is the only comparison that should be made. If you find it exciting that a newer car can lap faster than an older car, good for you. For me, it is just something I would expect.
