This is the problem when F1 chases the cash over truly great racing venues. Suzuka and Brazil seem to be the best tracks for a finale over the last few decades. Suzuka gets the nod from me as it doesn't seem to have the lottery effect that the weather in Brazil sometimes turns up.

Abu Dhabi is a soulless track meant purely to impress the media and investors.

It's a step in that direction, I believe Wipeout is the F3600 racing league which is likely the intergalactic successor to F1. 8-)

Sauber have confirmed they have agreed a 'multi-year technical and commercial partnership agreement' with Alfa Romeo.

The team will be known as the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team next season, with their car featuring an Alfa Romeo and equipped with a Ferrari power unit in 2018.

“This agreement with the Sauber F1 Team is a significant step in the reshaping of the Alfa Romeo brand, which will return to Formula 1 after an absence of more than 30 years," said Fiat Chrysler, and Ferrari, CEO Sergio Marchionne.

Will be nice seeing the Alfa Romeo name back in F1 after so many years.

It also looks like Kubica was faster than Stroll and Sirotkin in the Williams, and after yesterday Paddy Lowe said they had no concerns over his ability in the long runs. Might just be seeing Kubica back for good.

Wolff's remarks were echoed by Mercedes non-executive chairman Niki Lauda, who said: "Why (was Vettel) always moaning and bitching? He is getting more nasty all the time and why is he so emotional? He was never that bad before.

Halo Ticker

Formula 1's halo could feature digital 'ticker' display
F1 is currently analysing a series of "experimental solutions" to maximise the extra space created by the halo's introduction.
One of those solutions is a scrolling digital ticker, like the LED versions which are used to display the latest stocks and share prices.
"Formula 1 has been talking about doing some sort of digital on it, so I think we'll make the most of it," said McLaren executive director Zak Brown.
"Possibly some sort of almost like ticker running, like you see at the stock exchange. Some kind of messaging - that sort of thing.

I wonder if F1 will ever introduce the Fan Boost idea that's used in Formula E.
Maybe they could try an electronic version of Mario Karts Blue Shell as that's universally loved and adored.

It could be tracking Hamilton's offshore investments.

Would use it for positions in the race I guess. Be helpful for the fans at the track.

It'll probably be something stupid, like the driver's Twitter feed.
