what the strawberry float that sounds terrible the whole "action lap & music sounds awful" on some season reviews where they have music playing is off putting enough in the actual race yeah strawberry float that. I am beginning to suspect they will say the sponsors names during the race as well "there goes Hamilton into Rolex Turn no 1" :dread: :dread:

the no commentary action lap and music is what they do in Nascar & Indycar :dread: :dread:

Overheard Martin Brundle discussing some changes to the coverage. They've been asked to stop commentating for a lap to 3 minutes for an "action lap" with the new music playing. He didn't seem optimistic about it saying "3 minutes is a long time on TV"

Looks we will also have this as well in the coverage

Also, a lap at most tracks is normally approx 1m 30 seconds, so wouldn't that make it an action 2 laps?

You've clearly not heard about the Smirnoff-Super-Short-Cut for five fan-voted drivers per lap on a live rolling twitter poll, shortening a 90 second lap to 60 seconds for the lucky winners, indicated to the driver on his dashboard by a flashing Smirnoff Ice bottle.

Really dislike the sound of this action lap malarkey, won't add anything to the race at all for anyone.

Slightly off topic here.

Did anyone see the Moto GP? What a last corner, what a move! Ducati powered through the straight line. Wow.

With any luck, Channel 4 will chop it out of their highlights show.

Actually yes I did, was actually my first Moto GP I've watched in its entirety! I've been getting pestered to give it a go from some people at work so I said I would. Was very close throughout between the top 6, don't know many riders outside of Crutchlow, Marquez and Rossi though.

I'll probably give it another watch when the next race is on, the 4 wheeled variety of racing seems to be more up my street though (whatever discipline it may be, F1, F2, F3, WEC, WRC, Formula E) but I guess if I rode a motorcycle I'd probably get a right buzz from watching Moto GP.

I read that as gooseberry fool consistency

Can't believe it's that time again already. My money is on both mercs retiring, ricciardo winning, vettel second and Alonso third.

That's a couple of good additions in my opinion though.

So happy F1 is so nearly back on our screens though, feels like Christmas

Watching FP1 and every time the F1 logo pops up before/after a replay or camera change you get that faux engine noise from the theme tune. Incredibly annoying.

I didn't actually notice it much, could have been down the fact I was feeling pretty tired when watching it.

Also the Halo looks terrible on the onboard shots, especially the over the shoulder one where it blocks a lot of the cameras view.

Nice to see Verstappen put a quick lap in. Only a tenth or so off Hamilton's time which people raved about yesterday.

Mercedes will probably still get a 1-2 in qualifying though due to their new engine mode they've called "party mode", although with the weather meant to be on the rainy side who knows.

Hopefully Ferrari and Red Bull can be much closer than the pre season race pace seemed to imply.

Mercedes have a contingency plan for if it rains. It's called "Lewis Hamilton".

Good to see Alonso up there in the top 10.
