Yeah the Ferrari does seem to be up there, I'd be down for a Ferrari dominant season anyway after 4 years of Mercedes double titles. Last year was better in part but due to poor decisions from one of the Ferrari drivers and poor reliability at some races it fizzled out towards the end.

I hope, this year, the race will be a lot closer with the top teams.

Martini and Williams to end sponsorship deal

Motorsport.com understands Martini discussed an extension with Williams as well as speaking to other teams about an alternative arrangement.

But it is believed the board of the Bacardi Group, of which Martini belongs, decided to stop diverting resources to F1 entirely as it no longer aligned with its strategic objectives.

When asked to comment, deputy team principal Claire Williams told Motorsport.com: "We have discussed extending beyond 2018.

"While we would both like to do so, the Bacardi Group have told us that they will step away entirely from Formula 1 when our contract expires at the end of this year.

"They have many brands to support and obviously their strategic priorities evolve over time."

Yeah I'd also move away from Sky if we got the complete package in the UK, sounds a very good deal for the price.

Livery wise I think the Force India is a step down on last year, the halo sticks out hugely on it as well whereas some other teams have done a half decent job of trying to blend it in.

$8-12 per month sounds like something I'd pay for once any inevitable teething issues have been addressed. Thoroughly excited for the new season.

McLaren are going to be unbeatable this year, he was 2mins 20secs quicker than the rest of the field today.

Hanoi and Miami are very likely in next years calendar, while Buenos Aires is uncertain.
-The track in Hanoi will be 5 km long, while Miami will be 5.2 km (17 turns) and be inspired by the Baku City Circuit. It will pass by the Four Seasons Hotel. Both tracks would be ready by next year. Inspection for the latter track will be next week.
-Buenos Aires will need to make changes to its track to meet the requirements, it’s uncertain how they will finance this and the starting fees.
-The requirement to approve the street circuits have been changed: In the past Hermann Tilke was send out, this has changed under Liberty Media in order to have more variety. They send their own people there and pick the most spectacular layout.
-If the race in Buenos Aires is going to happen they will probably pick track layout 15 (track of the 1974-1981 GP). The FIA requires a update on the safety standards, but also on the track itself: The 180 turn between the two straights would become a combination of multiple turns. This would cost quite a lot.

Yes, I guess that special relationship with Bernie didn’t carry over... his tracks were copy and paste jobs and too often contributed to boring precession races.

They've definitely made a good step with their newest engine (which is a continuation of their 2017 design), just waiting on the Australian GP to see how much of a step they have taken as for all we know they could be running it on lower power in testing to increase milage. I do hope this isn't the case though and they've made good progress over the off season (as well as towards the end of 2017 as well) and they'll be much more competetive at the race weekends.

Hamilton also posted the quickest time of testing, a 1.19.3 on the medium tyre...... Hope this isn't a sign of things to come as I'd love to see another competitive season between multiple teams.

I may be odd, but I am beginning to like the look of the cars with the halo roof now - I wonder if any team will put a display of some sort on it for the driver...

Formula E will use the halo to display the battery charge level of cars so viewers can easily see how much each car has left. Maybe F1 could use something similar for kers?

The cars would look better without halos but they don't look hideous with them, expect I'll be used to them by the end of Australia. I do like what they're doing with the halo in Formula E though, showing charge left and maybe more. Should have at least the driver number on the halo, seen some mock ups where the halo is painted in the drivers helmet colours which could look decent or terrible depending on the helmet.
