He got to 6th quite easily. Then Riccardo did a 2-stop and Hamilton moved up to 5th. Then a safety car and 3 more in front pitted.

Was expecting Vettel to take out himself and Bottas, handing Hamilton another win.

Would have loved to have seen the two Mercs do a Barcelona when fighting over 2nd.

Enjoyable race anyhow, one of the better events i've seen this year.

Fell asleep during the race, glad Vettel hung on though. Hamilton basically accusing Ferrari of cheating. :fp: He'd already lost the lead before the incident happened.

Its when Hamilton starts coming out with accusations like "Ferrari are cheating" that makes it very hard to actually like him as an individual, no denying he's an immense talent and watching him race is always good but to actually think the Ferrari drivers are crashing on purpose is ridiculous, firstly that Ferrari actually want to be seen to be cheating to win, secondly because the drivers would have to be ultra precise and predict the opposing drivers movements to even try and pull this kind of move off without damaging their own car (like Vettel did to Bottas in France) and thirdly why would they willingly ruin their own race? In the past couple of races each driver had a penalty for colliding with one of the Mercedes hampering their own driver (granted the safety cars at Silverstone helped negate the effects of Raikkonen's penalty and Hamilton being pushed to the rear of the grid at the start). It just doesn't make sense in my opinion, hope Hamilton doesn't actually have any real aspirations of driving for Ferrari before his career finishes as saying stuff like that will probably bump his name a few places down on the list.

Regarding 2019 FTA coverage

A late deal giving British broadcaster Channel 4 the rights to continue showing highlights of every Formula 1 race beyond 2019 is said to be in the making, according to the BBC’s reporting during the 2018 British Grand Prix weekend.

British F1 fans have been worried for the past few years since it was announced that Sky Sports would have full and exclusive rights to broadcast Formula 1 in the UK in 2019 and beyond, meaning most of the people who watch the sport who don’t have a subscription to the pay-tv provider feared they would have to go without any coverage at all.

The deal was done in the Bernie Ecclestone era, much to the contempt of British fans and since then the sport’s TV viewers have continued to fall, with little on the horizon to halt the rapid decline.

BBC’s chief F1 writer, Andrew Benson, reported after Qualifying at Silverstone that a secret deal was being done to give Channel 4 the rights to show highlights of each Formula 1 race, effectively continuing the existing agreement from 2012 but without the live programmes.

Channel 4 F1 boss, Stephen Lyle, has so far not made any comment, but the BBC believes a deal is to be done in the next few weeks.

It's still a crap deal, but with the way things are these days, any terrestrial deal (no matter how crap) is a good deal, so bring on the highlights.

People actually still listen to Jacques Villeneuve?

He was good in '96, but his '97 title win was actually pretty flukey as several of his wins were inherited after others (such as Damon Hill in Hungary) broke down.
