I expect a lot of cars will look different at the start of testing, although I get the feeling Sauber have actually shown off their starting car due to the aero on the halo and the complicated looking barge boards on it.

Honda jumping Renault would make for an entertaining start to the season, although at the time they announced the switch it was definitely still the right move for McLaren. Red Bull should be hoping Honda show a remarkable improvement in 2018, they'll be running them in 2019 afterall (well most likely will be anyway).

Some snazzy looking sidepods on the Ferrari. Wonder if these two will be the pack leaders again.

In Ferrari's case (along with several other teams), it's spoiled by the silly looking thumb nose too, the Mercs have never seemed to need it so why do other teams keep making their nose cones so ridiculously ugly?

Seems like the McLaren is set to be orange :D

It got caught off guard by a gust of wind when being put into its truck from the plane, just enough to see its side pod, it's being officially shown off tomorrow morning.

The new McLaren looks great colour scheme wise (not sure about the blue though). Aero wise it looks a year behind the Mercedes and Ferrari. Hopefully they've just left bits off for the planned big revision at first testing.

McLaren still holding out for that title sponsor I see :P

Anyway I really like the orange, feel like it should have been black rather than blue though.

Not a fan of the blue, but the rest of it looks alright.

Aero wise it looks a lot better from the aerial point of view, it's got quite a complicated looking barge board set up in front of the side pods and it's got holes running most of the length of their floor.

Seen a neat detail on the Ferrari courtesy of Scarbs, the wing mirrors have a slot in them which directs more air into the top of side pods making them work better. Not actually seen wing mirrors used like this before.

The blue on the wings looks a different shade to that on the fin - more of an electric blue, and much better. Might just be the lighting.

Looks a little better, still not overly sold on it though, might look better under natural lighting rather than studio lights, expect it'll look very vibrant under the lights of Bahrain and Singapore. Anyone know if the blue to do with a sponsor? As last time they ran an orange livery in testing I'm sure it had mainly black wings/aero bits on the orange body which I thought looked really smart.

Not sure on the reason for the blue, but I've just read this:
The MCL33’s eye-catching primary colour, Papaya Spark, and secondary colours, Burton Blue and Cerulean Blue, were each developed in collaboration with McLaren partner AkzoNobel. The innovative coating systems supplied by the company have enabled the team to significantly reduce the total weight of paint and decrease paint processing time by more than 50%.

Seems to confirm two different shades of blue.

One for the wings and then one for the sharkfin then, much prefer the one used on the wings whichever shade of blue that is.

It's also amazing how much weight they can save on something like paint, in 2015 I seem to remember them starting switching liveries saved them a few kg. I'm surprised we've never seen a bare carbon fibre or vinyl wrapped car grace the grid or as a compromise a vinyl wrapped body with bare carbon fibre wings/aero bits. Obviously a vinyl wrapped car probably wouldn't look anywhere near as nice as a properly painted one mind but in a sport where every kilo counts it could be worth trying.
