That was terrible, hopefully it was in part due to the change tyre's for this race (making the tread smaller or something), hopefully it'll be better from Canada again (as Monaco, while a fantastic venue is a terrible race normally).

At least Ricciardo got the fastest lap, the pace was generally very quick today.

Yep, I thought he was aiming for a Killmonger esque style when I saw he had it tied together at the back as well.

The boring races are much better on highlights on C4, it makes the races much more bearable.

A return to form with today's race. Glad I only watched the highlights - very dull. Hamilton's hair. :slol:
I swear sometimes he tries to make it look as gooseberry fool as possible.

Wow, I remember some of those random teams, including when Jordan were 7UP Jordan. But I have no recollection of a pre qualifying round, where some teams had to qualify in order to actually enter qualify. Odd. I recall qualifying being spread over two days though, Friday and Saturday.

Yeah Quali in those days was spread over Friday & Saturdays until the 12 lap Quali system came into F1 at the start of 1996. The reason they had Pre Quali was the amount of teams in F1 at the time and the limit for 26 spots on the grid.

From 1988 until 1992 pre-qualifying was common. Although 26 cars were allowed to race, the organisers allowed up to 30 cars on the circuit during qualifying. With up to 39 car entered during this period, the slowest cars had to be eliminated during an hour long pre-qualifying session on the Friday morning (from 7am to 8am). The cars who were below 20th position in the preceding six months of the championship all took to the track, and only the fastest ten were allowed to continue for the rest of the race weekend. With the pre-qualifying session never televised, and running before most of the fans had even turned up at the circuit, the exposure any sponsors of these teams had was minimal. Eventually the numbers of teams entering Formula 1 dropped, so that by late of 1992 following the demise of Brabham there was no longer any need for pre-qualifying. In fact by the end of the season there were only 26 cars entered for the races, so everyone could start. Late the following season, Ligier dropped out, so the grid fell to 24 cars. The entry recovered in 1994 to 28 cars, with only Monaco having a less than full grid (due to Williams only running one car following Senna’s death, and Sauber withdrawing following Wendlinger’s practice accident). 1995 though saw the grid start to reduce, with teams unable to continue, starting with 26 cars, the field had dropped to 23 by the end of the season (Simtek only lasted until Monaco, and incidents for Suzuki at Suzuka and Häkkinen in Australia reduced the field for the final two races. By the end of the decade the grid was reduced to a stable 22 cars. But now without the pressure of having to qualify, a new rule was introduced to ensure that all the cars would be fast enough to compete. In 1996 cars had to be lap within 107% of the pole time in order to qualify for the race.

I know this has only become a meme because people don't like him but Lewis is braiding his hair to protect it when he's wearing a hot sweaty helmet all weekend. He's probably trying to grow it out.

Pre-qualifying was in use when i first started watching F1 in 1991, back then though, quali wasn't televised (let alone pre-quali) and only the race would be screened on sunday grandstand (i think the British GP was an exception though). As a result, some of the cars were rarely seen on TV, and not once did i get a glimpse of the Coloni that year as it was always too slow to make the cut.

Formula E - for those who couldn't get a seat in F1 and where old F1 drivers go to die.

Yes?
