Shocking race.
Knew Ferrari/Vettel would manage to throw it away after acing it in Spa and seemingly having the best car the previous few races.
Perez was terrible, I know Sirotkin's pace was shocking but he wasn't doing anything wrong at that point (granted he shouldn't have pushed Hartley wide later on), hitting him clearly helped his race.
Hamilton pretty much crowned WDC after today, not a chance he'll lose 40 points to Vettel.

Not the best race which is a shame because it had potential. I was disappointed with Bottas, Vettel was on the wrong tyre but Bottas couldn't put him under any pressure.
Hamilton looking a pretty good bet for WDC.

Seems to happen that way for some drivers, Alex Zanardi never got to grips with F1 yet he was an absolutely incredible driver in Indycars.
Same goes for Sebastian Bourdais.

yep very true & can add Bruno Senna to that list he is doing well in Sportscars

F1 is more political and more cut throat, some great drivers just don't get enough time and support to adapt.

Also not just that pancake it's the regulations if you are not in a Ferrari or Mercedes you have no chance of winning.

True but you don't have to be winning to get people's attention: see LeClerc and Gasly in this season alone.

Ricciardo won 2, and Verstappen won in Austria.

It was a very crap race.
On the subject of only being able to win in the 'Big Three' teams, it's depressingly true. Australia 2013 was the last time that somebody other than Red Bull, Ferrari or Mercedes won a race and you can partially put that down to the fact that Mercedes were still a year away from being a dominant force. It's like there are two leagues now and barring a freak occurence or the first few rows of the grid getting wiped out on the first corner, you will never see Renault, Force India, McLaren, Sauber or Williams win a race. Heck, it's major news when one of those cars even makes it to the bottom step of the podium, something that was a lot more common even when Ferrari/McLaren were dominating in the early 2000's.
The Force India situation sums up the state of F1 now. You have Ocon - a genuine talent and decent guy - getting the boot while Perez who drives like it's a demolition derby and is always moaning on the radio about clashes being somebody else's fault, staying on because money. That and Stroll (who I really don't rate at all) getting the other seat because Daddy is now part of the ownership consortium.
F1 is like a drug. It's utterly gooseberry fool most weekends but I still can't stop watching it

It will be better next season, particularly for those without Sky. With just one race being broadcast live on terrestrial TV you are really going to have to go out of your way to watch a live race.

Formula 1 has completed a deal to open up more betting markets in the series, which it says will give fans "new ways to engage with the action".F1 has announced a partnership with Interregional Sports Group to "produce an F1 betting offering" that "will work with data taken directly from the track on race weekends".
The deal will enable an expansion of in-play betting markets - popular in many other major sports.
F1's commercial managing director Sean Bratches said the championship is "delighted" with the arrangement, with the aim of "making the most of the data which is generated at every grand prix".
F1 will also work with Sportradar, which partners with several major sports rights holders to fight against betting-related match fixing and corruption through its fraud detection system.
Simon Vumbaca, CEO of motorsport betting company Pitstop Betting, said the deal was "great news and has been long awaited".
"The F1 deal amounts discussed [reported by The Financial Times as "more than $100m" over five years] would make the deal and cost of acquisition per player very high, which would indicate that the aim may be more to talk to F1 fans and take them to bet on other sports rather than necessarily F1," he added.
"But it has opened the door and set the scene for the motorsport betting market to grow.
"The more interest in motorsport betting, the higher the required standards and the better for all players.
"We certainly think that competition is always welcomed and we, at Pitstop Betting, are continuing our two-year development plan to cover 10, 15 and then more series."
