I've never seen that layout before, it looks like it's got a great flow.

Because there was no chicane at Abbey, the cars would go through Bridge flat out at 190mph, it was absolutely mighty.
The chicane only came about after Pedro Lamy's rear wing fell off (ironically, as a result of FIA 'safety' measures following imola which forced teams to cut chunks of bodywork out of the rear of the cars) and he ended up going over the fence and landed in the nearby spectator tunnel. Johnny Herbert (his team mate who was also there testing) came across debris but no sign of the car, he spent ages just trying to find him. Thankfully, although Lamy had broken his legs, his injuries weren't life threatening and he went on to fully recover and return to F1 with Minardi in 1995/96.

Kubica?
Robbo-92 wrote:Kubica would be good to see, I get the feeling Williams would have taken the chance on him this year if they were going to though but you never know.

I think in the end it was down to money, and the amount Sirotkin was able to bring to the team.
Still, having Kubica present as the test driver was handy, as it allowed me to finally get his autograph.

That one was laid squarely at Irvine's door (he was banned for 3 races as a result), same goes for the start crash at Monza which pretty much ended Team Lotus.
