I have to admit, the David Schwimmer lookalike incident going around Facebook today has been cracking me up .

Yeah that sounds right actually.

Pretty sure they are just slices.

Slices, dices, batons, julienne and chunks

The poppy discussion has came up before on here.

I wear one, but wouldn't ram it down people's throats about them. My ma still prepares the boxes of poppies for the Appeal, she was involved in community uptake with it when she was able to get about better. They did some good work for ex service people (and in some instances, the wider community).

It's up to people whether they donate. Facebook shaming or chain messages about it is utterly obnoxious, just like any other persistent charity campaigns.

Up until this year I've been very proud to wear a poppy, but I'm genuinely considering not doing it this year. I'll happily give the RBL the money as I fully support their work, but I'm just a bit sick of the poppy fascism. On the flip side, one of my best friends is a soldier so I'd appreciate he might disagree with that stance, and I also don't want to let the arseholes change my behaviour. Difficult one...

Someone anonymously puts some poppys around our area each year (On benches etc) and this year there are a load on lamp posts up our road. It's really nice and genuinely makes me fink evertym I see them. People who are offended are banana splits.

Oh my god the flu vaccine comments.

"How did people survive before and now we need the vaccine?!"

"It's normal to get flu once a year"

Apparently it also shuts down your immune system and causes paralysis.

strawberry float me.

What are the potential social consequences of unfriending people on facebook you barely knew and haven't seen in 3+ years?

Absolutely none. Also, that sounds like it could be a ResetERA thread.

They might refuse to see you for another 3+ years.

I've been unfriended by a few people that I used to work with and honestly it doesn't feel great, especially when they remain friends with other colleagues you worked with at the same time. If I see those people IRL I'm immediately more uncomfortable because of this, although this may be down to my relentless paranoia and anxiety.

If you absolutely detest the person then go for it, but if it's just views they hold that offend you or something like that I recommend just blocking their posts from coming up on your news feed.

I unfriended a woman I used to know because she kept sharing photos of abused an injured dogs. At least once a day there would be a photo of some poor mutt that had had its face cut or had been starved. She was told by lots of people to stop doing it but refused because she was “spreading awareness”.

I don’t need to see that gooseberry fool. :dread:

It's the same with my wife's facebook - every other post is about stillbirths and miscarriages (she has lots of pregnant friends, they seem to mass together in herds). Spreading awareness can very easily slip into grief porn.

I'm aware that bad stuff happens, I don't need to be told about it in minute detail every evening.

Someone I know sent me pretty graphic pictures of that journalist who was murdered (or that's what it stated it was). Limbs off, skin off his face. I don't know if it was him or someone else. I instantly deleted.

I don't know why people do that. It really pissed me off. It's not the type of thing I want to see.

There is always the option to block people's posts though. You don't have to unfriended them to not see that content.
