Even when i am having a gooseberry fool day or a gooseberry fool time. I look at my baby boy and he make my heart melt. To ever Single parent out there just look into your child eyes and know that they will love you uncontionally and love you for who you are. Happiness is what you make it if you can make your child smile everyday than thats whats counts. Dont get hook up on drama or a father (Ab). that does not want to know there child. But be strong and show the whole world.. he is your world ..

Someone on my friends list posted a video of one of these pedophile hunters. It was a sting in my home town. It is about 20 minutes long and was basically; group of the hunters approach guy as hes exiting a shop, present him with the chat printouts, and ask him why he did it.

It was a really uncomfortable watch, and i stopped watching it about half way through. The guy seemed to have "mental difficulties", and there where about 4 or 5 of the hunters. This guy seemed to admit to saying the things he did on the chat logs, and those were pretty sick. But In the end arent the hunters are lying because it is them who are posing as 8 year old girls? Is this type of evidence admissible in court? On the face of it the hunters seemed to falsely imprison (albeit on the street), intimidate and threaten a vulnerable person.

There was an article in BBC breakfast news a few months ago saying that these hunters where now being accepted by the police. I did a quick google search but found this instead;

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-43356565

This is probably for a different thread. The facebook comments on the video all seemed to be infavour of the hunters, one comment was calling the hunters out, but the response was "what would you think if it was your 11 year old daughter".

He's inarticulate, but yes unpaid "trials" are essentially a free labour scam.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

It was more that I genuinely don't know what "frigg off on my trial" actually means.

If that's the case it seems inappropriate to ask of an employee.

some jobs you do need a trial though - although i guess you could use a probationary period but that is just a real waste of everyones time if they end up being crap.
e.g. my first job was in a cafe - we had trials and some people couldn't actually just move plates/cups to the kitchen and use an auto dishwasher without dropping stuff or being slow. it saved their time and the cafes time to have a few hours just to see if they could actually do the job properly.

It's still abused by companies wanting free labour, so the person should be compensated for their time. Same with 'internships' that are basically an unpaid position that requires a level of which which should be paid.

yes i would agree with that, but how are you going to pay those who did the trial and werent successful? give them cash in hand? is that allowed?

You could draw up a quick contract, similar to a contractor. Pay cash in hand, tell them they're responsible for reporting it to HMRC.

If I wasn't self-employed, I wouldn't want to go through the rigmarole setting myself up as such just to trial a job or two. Even if they made some kind of fast-track service for that situation, it's still seems past the level of what should be involved with trialling a job, especially if it's unskilled or just a part time job.

I do agree that something should probably be worked out to stop companies doing it though, doesn't seem particularly fair. Though I also understand what it's like to go through a long training process with someone who clearly wasn't fit for the role from the off.

So I offer no solutions, only problems. :|

I think it is common for bar and cafes as they need staff to not be strawberry float slow and stuff.

I guess it takes the piss a little but only if they are like "do the day" and if you are clearly filling the space of another staffer.

I'm not sure how you would regulate it but I can see it being expensive for cafes and such to not be able to do it as a sort of screening measure.

Or perhaps more parameters to set the bar. Companies can request maximum or 4 hours work trial, unpaid and supernumerary to regular staff. That deals with the folk abusing the system while not making a headache for those treating it right.

Vigilante justice is always bad and it's pretty shocking if it's being accepted by the police.

I remember seeing a documentary about a group like this from Russia except while they claimed to target pedo's it actually seemed to just be gay dudes. They would lure them to a house then ambush them with cameras and get them to admit to being gay then basically ridicule them for an hour or so and if they tried to resist they threatened to out them to their families and employers etc. :|

the trial at my old work was only 2 hours which seemed fair to me.
