Just started on Radiant Dawn. I will update this thread with my diary of play.

Just to be clear, my only previous Fire Emblem experience is the recent DS version, Shadow Dragon. I loved it and it inspired me to check out a console version.

Day 1:

..Watched the stunning opening FMV. Best FMV I've seen this year. Intro sequence also pretty good. Girl with bird is annoying.

..Glad I can play this by holding the Wiimote sideways. Can't be bothered pointing at the screen at this time of night. Too much energy required. Also can't be bothered connecting a Gamecube controller as my Wii is sideways underneath my desk, with no gap for the flap to open.

..First Chapter complete. So far so good. Chose Normal difficulty. I hear this version is tougher than others. I admit that I had to play through the first chapter twice as the first time the boss dude killed the annoying girl with the bird. I was actually pretty happy about that but I guess she must be crucial to the story. Shame. Levelled up my cool Archer dude (Leonardo?) with the boss kill at the end. Far too early to see which characters I grow attached to. Await second chapter and introduction of new characters with intrigue.

Sealed Sword?

It's rather good, a direct sequel to the original GBA game.

Glad somebody bumped this, I have been playing through Radiant Dawn while I have been off work (Just about to start part 4).

My observation is it is definitely the hardest FE game I have played so far (including GBA and DS), and far harder than PoR. I'm definitely enjoying it less too, though not entirely because of this.

I'm surprised that you're enjoying it less than PoR, really. I thought RD was a (slightly) better game, and I loved the story continuation. I didn't really think the difficulty was much harder, either. It had been a long time since I had played a FE game though, whereas I played PoR after Sacred Stones.

Mocky, it might be worth finding out about the PoR story a little bit before getting too far into RD, as it will increase your enjoyment of it.

St. Nick is about to start Path of Radiance, too. :o :o

I played a bit of the last GBA FE after Shadow Dragon and I couldn't really get into it. I then sold my DSlite so that avenue is closed off.

Forget that Dragon Quest Wars DSi Ware stuff and get going on some downloadable Fire Emblem chapters!

Radiant Dawn starts slowly (and a bit awkwardly), but once you get to the second act it really hits its stride and never looks back.

Do you mean Sacred Stones?

Sealed Sword is the Japanese one that wasn't released here. Some kind soul made a translation for it, though, so it's in full English.
