Got this shinkwrapped and sat on the table in front of me (along with Bangaioh Spirits and DQ IV). Tragically, DS Lites are awfy thin on the ground in Leeds so I can't play it. :(

I'm thinking about getting back into Sacred Stones.

I'll pop this thread's 2009 cherry.

...

I've no idea if this is new or not (the actual interview took place last summer), but it's the first I have seen of it.

Masahiro Sakurai (of Smash Bros. fame) interviews Intelligent Systems Producer Toru Narihiro about Shadow Dragon:

Nothing massively revelatory to be found.

- Nice to see that Sakurai is a huge Fire Emblem nerd. And he's probably the guy to thank for Fire Emblem appearing in the west after Melee.

- Looks like some character names have been changed for the US translation of the game. I wonder how different the story will be? Will the American version actually have a plot?

- And some more comments at the end that give weight to the idea that Intelligent Systems are considering a Fire Emblem Allstars game featuring characters from across the series.

I'd rather not fiddle with my network settings.

Do we know for sure if the DSi supports WPA?

Not much Shadow Dragon discussion on GR after chalky, ff and I finished. I thought a few people were getting it for Christmas...

Anyway, Shadow Dragon is so 2008. It's all about The Sacred Stones! Shadow Dragon discussion on other boards left me craving a fix, so I thought I was ready to resume playing the one GBA FE in my possession. And now I've completed the second mission. Hopefully it won't take me another year to play the third one.

One day I'd like to do a FE run-through where I carry on after losing a character.

But not right now.

My Merric is the hardest bastard in the world. Took down 2 Paladins and 3 Generals single handedly in one turn

I did, but I only played it briefly. I think I'll end up holding off playing it until the summer. That's the time of the year I played through Shining Force and the second (First in English) GBA FE game, and both worked out pretty well. Screw the outdoors, summer is for SRPGs!

We get a three month summer this year, too.

Therefore, there is plenty of time for Shining Force 2, Sacred Stones, Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, too. And Disgaea. ;) I reckon you'd really enjoy Eternal Sonata and Lost Odyssey, too.
(Did you get into Swansea by the way?)

Merric did become an amazing character. I might go back to this soon, as well. I still haven't tried online.

There's nothing quite like a couple of Fire Emblem chapters on a freezing cold winter night. I wasn't really a fan of sweating my way through PoR and RD during the summer months.

It's going to be a long wait for the next Fire Emblem game isn't it?

Woo hoo! Support conversations, terrain effects, rescuing...Sacred Stones does what Nintendon't.

Although I do miss having all the information on another screen.

Shadow Dragon

Any good? It's the NES right?

Story poor then?

I saw it in BlockieB's for £30....I didn't even know it existed...

The game is superb, definitely worth a punt.

I think it's a remake of the snes (which was a remake of the nes) version, so the story is less complicated than the GBA/GC/wii versions. It's still fairly good though, and it's very well balanced.

The story and characterisation in Shadow Dragon is definitely less significant than in the more recent games.

It doesn't feel like an NES game in terms of gameplay, though. Either the NES game was seriously ahead of its time or the series has barely evolved over the years...

Apparently something Fire Emblem-relared is due to be announced in late-May.

I imagine it's too soon for another full DS game. It would be cool if they remake the extra stuff from the SNES remake of the first game as downloadable chapters for DSi Ware.

Then again it has been a while since Intelligent Systems released anything for the Wii.

I would like a new wii/DS game, but I would also happily accept something on wiiware or DSiware.

I reckon the wii game is more likely.

I'd be happy with a Wii game but I'd prefer it if their console bods have been spending years on a new Paper Mario.
