If Alisson and Virgil wasn't in that team, I think Liverpool would have drawn/lost.

Mourinho has the full backing of the Man Utd board.

...

He'll definitely be gone by the end of the season.

Two games in? How strange.

They've clearly been tapping up Steve Kean. The wheels are in motion

I think this proves definitively you cannot live in a hotel in Manchester for 3 years.

You can live in a hotel for much longer than that in Staffordshire.

Felt sorry for that kid that got sent off for palace last night, he looks a top player. It was a red though.

Deciding not to pursue with a case that was clearly going to be dismissed is not protecting him.

Van Dijk was a colossus.

Not the game that I saw. I saw a composed, if not fluent, comfortable win. Palace I thought were ok, some nice one touch stuff, but didn't get out of midfield into dangerous territory with the exception of a couple of decent efforts. Solid performance in an often tricky tie.

I agree Van Dijk was a colossus...but ironically it was his mistake which lead to Palace having one of their 2 good chances.

Both teams worked well to cancel each other out in midfield, which showed when halfway through the second half both teams only had two shots on target (one of Liverpool's being the penalty)...

The pressing game from Liverpool and a lack of anyone stood within 10 yards of Benteke for most of the game (him versus Virgil was a fair battle) meant that any balls forward usually ended up at a Liverpool player...

Both teams had chances though, not 100% sure on the "defensive masterclass" line being paraded in the media since there were plenty of decent chances for Palace (Keita made the mistake for the Townsend one shortly after he set up Salah)...

Also why do people throw flares onto the pitch towards your own celebrating players?

Liverpool were so comfortable in that game.

Townsend hit a shot from about 25 yards that hit cross bar, Keita gave him the ball sure but we had cover. Benteke skewing that shot in second half instead of playing in Townsend would have been a tester for Van Dijk.

I was nervous because being only 1 nil up, even though we restricted Palace to long shots one could be a worldy plus our front 3 weren’t at there best, Salah should have scored a couple of times, missed chances to kill the game are ominous. Palace had 3-4 corners or free kicks in final minutes into the box and Virgil headed them all away the last one leading to Mane’s goal, watching Liverpool for years, we haven’t had a defender like that since Hyypia.

You could take it as a back handed compliment to palace, no way are they going to be battling relegation this year, at home they will take some beating.
