Defence can make a difference on some of these saves though (he's made 36 in total in PL this season), as good defensive positioning can lead to poor attempts on goal which equal an easy save...

If the keeper hasn't got saves to make or has easier shots to save because of being behind a good defence then of course he'll have a higher save percentage... Or when strikers clean through on goal decide to shoot straight at him like that Napoli bloke did last night

If he had the likes of the Liverpool defence from a few years ago in front of him I doubt the percentage would be as good... Can see this in De Gea's drop of form this year and Courtois over in Madrid... Both great keepers but both struggling because of poor defending in front of them...

I didn't say it has NOTHING to do with the defence just not as much as cleans sheets do.

I fully expect De Gea to breakdance to several world class saves on Sunday and Alisson to go full Karius cos football's gonna football.

Young Boys did a job for them but Utd still failed to win the group.

Jones again

Too early to say about Allison. He's only played about 25 games, way too early to see if he's the real deal or not. (Actually, I do think he's the real deal, but how can anyone say he is better than someone like De gea, who's been doing it for 6 or 7 seasons?). I think he will prove to be the real deal over the next 2 or 3 seasons.

And me.

I didn’t watch it today as I wasn’t feeling confident. :|

Not going to comment on Jose or Jones. What’s been said has been said about 100 times already.

But eleven sports seem to be in trouble.

Eleven Sports is owned by the guy that owns Leeds Utd, so hopefully that destabilises their push for promotion.

He won an award a couple of weeks ago for best keeper in Serie A, so it's a season and a half so far...and I did say on current form.

Not doubting Allison at all, but boy does the xG model sound like bollocks. How do they determine what the average keeper would do? What's an average keeper at all? A mid table Prem keeper? A League 1 keeper?

I imagine they use some sort of statistical model.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Chelsea has issued a statement over antisemitic singing (towards Tottenham) at tonight’s match against Vidi in Budapest:

Anti-semitism and any other kind of race-related or religious hatred is abhorrent to this club and the overwhelming majority of our fans. It has no place at Chelsea or in any of our communities.

We have stated this loud and clear on many occasions from the owner, the board, coaches and players.

Any individuals that can’t summon the brainpower to comprehend this simple message and are found to have shamed the club by using antisemitic or racist words or actions will face the strongest possible action from the club.

Is it me or this thread is dying? Just had a look and last years thread when it reached 129 pages was in September. The 15/16 thread was still in August when it reached 129 pages.
